Following the lead I got from an old post, I emailed tours@nummi.com and asked for a "birth certificate" for my Vibe. I sent the VIN along with the request. The request was made on March 11 and today I got the following in return email.

From this forum. Somewhere else on here is a post by someone who had actually visited the factory 4 or 5 years ago. He asked the tour guide if they had records that would show when his Vibe was built. He was told to email the VIN (he was on vacation---did not drive there) and they could supply the info.
Sorry about the placement of this post. I was replying to another post a couple of comments up about how I learned about this. I used REPLY instead of QUICK REPLY.
...requested one for each car last Friday and they arrived just now....both of our Vibes ('04 and '09) are Sagittarius's--and are, literally, one day and five years apart in age!...the wife's '04 was "born" at 7:06 a.m. on December 2, 2003, while my '09 was "born" at 5:58 p.m. on December 3, 2008.

I'm happy that it worked for y'all, too. I wonder how long they will keep doing this. Anyone know when the plant will close, or if Toyota will try to keep it open?

Mine is supposed to be Mon Dec 9th 2002 at 6:04AM. Seems to me that it was most likely partially assembled the previous weekend and completed on Monday morning. Still, I haven't had any real issues at all over the years that wasn't recall relatedQuote, originally posted by Bastranz »Funny you should say that....My car was "born" on Friday, Oct 11th, 2002 at 5:06 PM. Hello everyone...I am the person you have been emailing for your birth certificates. My name is Sara, and I am (was) the Tour Guide for NUMMI the past 11 years. We close our doors this Thursday, so unfortunately today (Monday) will be the final day I can do the research necessary to produce your birth certificates. I saw the first Vibe roll off the line so many years ago, and I even saw the Voltz (Vibe's right hand drive version that went to Japan). It has been a pleasure to offer these as a memory of your vehicles. The BC's came about because I was curious when my Tacoma (built here on a separate line) was built after I bought it. I found someone in our production control office who could let me know when my vehicle went out the ship gate, i.e. "birth", so I made the first one for me (June 16, 9:43pm 2001-a Gemini...) I began mentioning that to my visitors, and the idea caught fire! I freely admit, I got the idea from "them Cabbage Patch dolls", and I giggled when I read Tony Tat2 said " when NUMMI goes away, so too will die the orphanage they came from!". I want everyone to know since your babies were born here, Monday, or Friday, they were well taken care of...we have consistantly received quality awards for all or efforts. There is a LOT of pride here at NUMMI, and I was lucky enough to show that to over 50.000 visitors a year the past 11 years.Enjoy your rides everyone, your Vibes came from a fabulous family!Cheers!
Sara - Thank you so much for taking the time to do the research to produce these certificates -- so neat. My husband e-mailed my VIN yesterday -- I've got my fingers crossed that my Vibe was born on my bday! And it will be close -- it was a special order, and we took delivery on 10/31...so it just depends on how long it takes to get from CA to TN.Thank to everyone at NUMMI for their efforts to build a quality vehicle. Sad to see it end this way.
I sent an email today, if it is possible that's amazing and thank you. if not, thank you for the hardwork for everyone else. thanks for finding us and contacting us on the forum.

I know we all appreciate it very much and have gotten such a kick out of receiving our "birth certificates". I am just waiting for people to start posting about throwing birthday parties for their Vibes now ! I am saddened to hear NUMMI will officially be closing this week . I wish I would have been able to make it out there for a tour. That would have been so cool to see Vibes actually being made. My mom and I (and I'm sure everyone else here) couldn't be happier with our Vibes. Thank you and everyone at NUMMI for building such great little vehicles with such care and quality.Best of luck to you and everyone else at NUMMI with all your future endeavors ! The Vibes you guys have built will live on for a long long time to come.

Still, I haven't had any real issues at all over the years that wasn't recall relatedI believe the data from production control is from when they come off the final inspection line and are 'sold' to either GM or Toyota. So yea, you are correct, this vehicle would have started production a day or two earlier. Depending on what you consider the beginning to be, it takes close to 20 hours to manufacture a vehicle from beginning to end. And then the part you don't want to hear, if there is a defect found on the vehicle and it has to go to a repair area, it is possible for it to sit there for a while until it can be repaired. Also, occasionally there are vehicles pulled off the line for quality checks and they can sit off line for hours or up to a day or two. Its great that Sara was doing this for everyone. I didn't know about this until I read it here. Shes a great person and was a fun tour guide and co-worker. She truly had a passion for what she did there.
I have owned or leased every GM/Toyota "project" to come out of your plant! All started with a dark gray '86 4-door Nova 5-speed (how I learned to drive a manual). Then, a hunter green automatic '97 Prizm, followed by an '87 5-door automatic red Nova, a Maroon automatic '02 Prizm... then finally and currently, my '06 black Vibe. As Ace would say: "Obsessed much?!"

We supported both GM/American workers and the Toyota quality that went into each model (minus the issues some folks are dealing with on here over the past few years). He got me into the '86 Nova when I turned 16. Bought it with 85k miles for $600. The rest was history...

Hate to see that place go, it was definitely an interesting and unique place to work.
I want to add my thanks to Sara for making the BCs available to us, and to the folks at NUMMI who built these fine cars that we all enjoy so much. We wish them all the best of luck in the years to come.
Sara, thank you so much for providing the BCs for all of us. I was more than thrilled when I saw my certificate in my inbox!I have yet to set up my "Garage" on here, but I'm less than a month away from the one year anniversary of the purchase of my Vibe, which is also my very first car. It has been a blast to drive, and I've certainly put a lot of miles on it. The reliability is great as well.I did a lot of research before making my purchase, looking at review after review after review. I found this car, being drawn in by its name, and was thrilled to learn about NUMMI, the GM/Toyota partnership, and am proud to say that I know where my car was built! There were rave reviews from fellow Vibe owners, and it had quite a high rating.I'm also sorry that I won't be able to tour the NUMMI plant, and am disappointed that the time has come for the doors to close one last time. It would certainly have been a great part of my future epic trip to California. Thanks very much for the high quality placed into the Vibe and other cars made in the plant. I surely am a satisfied customer, and hope to drive my Vibe for years to come! I wish all of you the best in your future.

it's a powerpoint file. can either use microsoft office($$$) or open office(free!! openoffice.org). i use OOO on my computers, even the laptops with microsoft works or trial versions of microsoft office. i even have a legit students copy of micro office and i don't use it. or if you have a google e-mail address you can forward it to there and it will automatically open it in google power point presentation.
ooops. i went by what Sara said, virgo. oct 15th is actually libraCapricorn and Libra love compatibilityCapricorn has a strong sexual interest in the Libra. Libra in her/his part likes the Capricorn's aspiration to earn money. However, the Libra's propensity for laziness irritates the Capricorn who got used to work without a rest. As a result the Libra will be dissatisfied by a Capricorn's sober practicality. The Capricorn wouldn't like Libra's constant attempts to be center of everyone's attention. Capricorn will even bring his/her work to bed, literally, and it will be up to Libra to distract him/her long enough for sexual relations to take place. A sign such as Libra is not about to put up with this for very long before greener pastures are sought out. There is too big personal incompatibility for a successful marriage.i do work a ton and if i'm not working or doing school stuff i have no idea what to do. i believe my car and i will have a very long "marriage".
Today is my last day at NUMMI. I am so glad I was able to get a lot of your birth certificates. Enjoy and drive them proudly, NUMMI gave them the best start in life!
