After doing a bit of tinkering around on the site, I found that the site officially opened to the public on 04/01/02. That means that GenVibe's first birthday is about 2 weeks away. I'm wondering if there is anything special planned to celebrate?

I don't want to debate your excellent post because I don't know a firm date either, but it looks like most of the initial articles on the main site were posted 3/15/02.... putting us over a year already. http://www.genvibe.com/html/news/ucla/f ... shtmlWhere did you find your dates as I would be interested as well!
I think the first members joined April 1st. I know I joined sometime in May.You can search in the Member list on the various access levels (member, moderator, administrator) and have it sort based on Member's sign up date.

The admin account (user ID 1) was created 4/3/2001 (way back!).. so maybe the forum was installed at that time.I believe the actual site (not forum) was up full steam around March 2002 then as well considering the post dates of the articles.
My Vibe is celibrating its first birthday today. I picked it up 3/23/02. I wanted a black one with moon and tunes, power group, alum wheels and a 5 speed. At that time could not find on on the dealers lots.So I put in an order mid March 2002. I had just sold my Malibu and my wife was without a car. She got on the internet and found the exact car we wanted about 130 miles from our home. I got a 911 page from her on a Friday afternoon that she had found the car and the dealer was open on Saturday. Needless to say I canceled the order I had in and found myself on a roadtrip 3/23/02. I remember seeing the Vibe for the first time like is was yesterday. The ride home was an event. I let my wife drive the first half. I was following and I saw a Mercedes ML320 come up beside us. He was looking the Vibe over and veered into the same lane and almost took out my new toy. Luckly nothing happened. Then we stopped to change drivers and another couple in a Tracker stopped us at a stop light and wanted to know all about the car. This all happened in the first 60 miles of ownership! Things have settled down now quite nicely. I have nearly 19,000 trouble free miles on it now. Just wanted to pass these thoughts on....

I was messing around with the search feature and was curious as to what was the first post on this site. By entering numbers into the url I was able to go back all the way to thread #3 where Admin (Mike) said that that was the first day that GenVibe was open. Here is the link to where the person who owns this site said it himself. I meant the day that the forums were first open, not necessarily the whole GenVibe site.http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=3 His is the second post on the thread. Also, I noticed that the people who posted on here so much in the first month of the forum opening are never on here anymore. Where did you go, our forum founding fathers?

Using your url hunting technique I found my first post was on http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=11 on April 30th, so I will know my anniversary of when I started haunting this place.

Or you can click on your name to the left of one of your posts and your profile screen will come up. It will tell you how many days you have been a member. Grab a calandar and count backwards from today. Happy haunting, Frosty!

Even easier - go to the members list. It has the sign up date for everyone. Mine is May 28th I believe. Its great - you can even sort it based on Moderator, Administrator, or User access levels and sort based on sign up date.

I'm with Stang, when he said "I'm wondering if there is anything special planned to celebrate?"Maybe we can schedule up a time on 4/1/2004 to get everyone to try to be online all at the same time, set a record for most number of users online. So far the most I have ever seen is 31, (that number doesn't count those who are guest/lurkers or members who are looking but not logged in. other sites' online counts include those)So, 4/1/2004 is a Thursday. When is the best time for everyone to be able to be here, logged in on that day?
Cool idea, joatmon! It could be kind of like a GenVibe Birthday party! Thursdays are a busy day for me, but I can log in and leave my computer on starting about noon Eastern time that day. I have class at 1:40pm then afterward, I leave school to go straight to work from 4:00 to about 9:00.BTW---just a suggestion on this, you might want to start a new thread on this to draw more attention to it. That might get more people to participate. I would offer to do it myself, but I don't want it to look like I stole your idea.

Hmm...that's a good point. You don't have to be active to be logged into the site, but for the site to see you as "online", I think you have to have been active within the last 20 minutes.
