New Vibe owner - looking for stealthy sub install pics and links

Post by SonicThunder88 »

Title says it all - I'm looking for some pics of stealth sub installs in a Vibe/Matrix. Preferably setups that don't interfere with the usability of the rear cargo space (sort of what the factory sub achieves). Links to previous discussions are fine as well - I'm new here and I know how frustrating it can be to keep discussing the same thing over and over when the "newbie's" arrive online.Thank you. P.S. - Vibe is new to me but it is a 2003 that was very well loved by its past owner

Had a bazooka tube installed recently at Future Shop - within the rear hatch of our 2009, does not interfere with the flip up grocery area at all and sounds awesome with the OEM system. Plus - it comes out in seconds (strapped down, one plug) if we need to load up the rear with heavy duty stuff etc. Check them out...

Here are the ones Ive done through the years. Not coveredCoveredFirst stealth install used the plastic tub that sits over the spare tire.Second stealth install I made an enclosure from MDF rings, the enclosure sat inside the spare tire and used the spare tires holding bolt to secure it.Third and current is as it stands, I got rid of the spare and made an enclosure out of fiberglass. The enclosure is secured with bolt and screws into the hole where the spare tire bolted to.uncoveredAron

Awesome links and pics guys - that's just what I was looking for to start the creative juices flowing!VibeBear: that's a neat little bass pod you built. How is it mounted and how easy is it to get out when you need to replace a tail light bulb?Again, thanks guys

I just put a Boss Bass1200 powered sub in my '09. It's a low profile powered sub that fits under the front passenger seat. Adds plenty of bass to the stock system... Nothing like a couple 12's but it's cheap, simple, and doesn't take up any cargo room!

I'm confused - was the Moon and Tunes pkg. available with and without subwoofer? My 2003 Vibe has a factory sunroof with 6 speakers and amp under passenger seat but no sub. The passenger rear panel looks just like any normal (non-Moon and Tunes equipped) Vibe rear panel so I don't suspect someone took it out to sell it or whatever...Does anyone have pics with the factory sub side panel in place? Thanks!**VibeBear, I just noticed your last statement - thanks for the compliments on the 'Z' avatar. My wife and I have owned that since new. It's an '89 with a 5.7L, original paint and has never seen a snowflake! That avatar pic doesn't do it justice...but talking about it is for another thread and certainly not in the audio section for Vibe's.

I believe the woofer was an option in addition to the moon and tunes until 2005, though I could be wrong.Aron

That's a really great, kick-a** setup mando7744 - awesome job I like the tire-iron touch! I think I know the answer but...where's the spare tire?Thanks for sharing

Well for now it's just screwed through the plastic... I have some anchors that I'm going drill through the plastic to hold it in better. haven't had to change a bulb, but I imagine it's going to be a P.I.T.A, have to pull out the sub & then the box to get to it
