That's a pretty wide wheel! I have 17X7 Summer wheels with a 38 offset and have experienced no problems with fit. What tire size (width and aspect ratio) are you looking at for that wheel?

it depends on how much lower i go, if i go lower and have to worry about clearance than im gonna end up with a 205 40 18 other wise ill rock 225 40 18s

That would mean a really loooowwww profile tire, and more suceptible to rim damage from uneven roads. Not even sure if a 205 width would turn out OK on an 8 inch wide wheel. May be able to compromise with a 215/40 18. If you can fit a 225/40 18 tire and that particular wheel on your Vibe, they would give you a little more room between the road and your rim compared to a 205/40 18 and even the 215/40 18 tire. Might get a wheel/tire dealer to try one tire and wheel on your car to see if there are any clearance problems. You could probably determine that right in their shop. I was able to do that once, and the wheel shop ended up selling a plus 1 wheel and tire that ended up fitting the car very well, but it was trial and error, until we found that optimum offset and tire size for the car.So it can be done.
