well I know the bolt pattern is 5x100I am concerned with the 8 width... yank, Geo got his new Mille Miglias and they are 17x8 and they fit. I knew x7 and x7.5 would fit but I am concerned abotu the 8. I ca;;ed wheelmax and they said they'd fit the Vibe... but I wanted to know if other people have 18x8 on their Vibes and if they fit.

Hold on a second. We're discussing different numbers. The bolt pattern for our Vibes is 5 on 100mm. That means 5 holes in a 100mm diameter circle. The +21mm Cathy listed is the offset. That is the distance away from the center rim that the mounting surface is.My wheels are 17x7 with a 38mm offset. 7" wide rims is approx 178mm wide. Divide by 2 and you get 89mm to the rim center. Add the 38mm offset and you get 127mm from the mounting surface to the inner rim lip.The wheels Cathy is asking about are 18x8 with a 21mm offset. 8" wide rims is approx 203mm wide. Divide by 2 and you get approx 101.5mm to the rim center. Add the 21mm offset and you get 122.5mm from the mounting surface to the inner rim lip. This means those rims have 4.5mm more clearance on the inside. However, the rims are 25mm wider. Add 25mm plus the 4.5mm extra clearance and you get rims that stick out 29.5mm farther than my wheels. 29.5mm is approx 1-5/32".I'd say they would fit with no problem with either 215/40-18 or 225/40-18 tires.

Thanks Nova...very informative! That totally helped me understand it. BTW, I'd be getting a 225/40/18 tire...Now I just have to decide on silver or chrome...$1399 vs. 1699Such a big step!

225/40's will look nice and the wider wheels with have them sticking out a little more than an inch compared to mine. I think that will look sweet. Personally, I like painted silver compared to chrome because they are easier to maintain (chrome rusts in the winter here). On the other hand, chrome looks better on dark cars like your Neptune. I guess I'm not much help on that decision. LOL!

i asked a question about a wheel and offset a week ago and NOBODY answered.mabey if i was a girl i would have got a answer. but anyway mabey i get some help here! using novas math with a 42mm offset it seems i lose 4mm of inside clearence less than a quarter of a inch. my question is i lose this between the inside edge off wheel and strut. i stuck my fingers in there i dont think 4mm with hurt anything. but does 4mm offset difference affect caliper clearence,or does that stay the same.
look my sniggies, i had a strizz-oke in my brizz-ain okay, you know what im saying. so i cant move all good. but thanks for mentioning that .thank you very much.athf4evr. click here! you know you want to!!!

You need to tell us the rim width. If it's a 7" wheel, you, you will loose 4mm on the inside. If it's a different rim width you'll have to calculate. About caliper clearance, you'll have to ask the manufacturer.

That lost 4 mm clearance won't hurt a bit, satur9! The inner flanges of my 17" x 10" rims are 34 mm (~1-3/8") tighter to the struts/fender wells than Nova's (stock offset?) 17" x 7s, and although pretty tight, in 10,000 km I've never had a problem. BTW, the outer flanges of my "steamroller rims" are 42 mm or ~ 1-5/8" further out, and with a 275/40 tire, my suspension travel is limited somewhat by fender lip clearance, especially on the front. If I was buying new, I would have tried to go with a max of 245/40s on an 17" x 8" with around + 35 to 40 mm offset. (Nice use of mixed units there!)

Yank, I photo-shop the wheels on Geo's vibe. I'm not sure what size they would be. I was messing with Geo's mind....
