After burning up my old setup, I ended up getting a whole new setup. The only thing that is the same are the RCA's and box. Heck I even had to change out the remote wire!I ended up getting a DD Audio DD1512DVC4 and a Kicker 08ZX750.1. The sub ran me $225 shipped, could have been cheaper but I decided to go with the carbon fiber dust cover. It's a 12" 4 ohm DVC rated around 500 RMS with 1800 peak. I have it running at 2 ohm. The amp i got through Frys.com for $299 (+ taxes) shipped; it was originally a $500 amp but was on sale for 50% off! It's a Class D amp that runs at 375 @ 4 ohms and 750 @ 2 ohms. The birth sheet said either 908 or 980 but didn't say if that was a peak number or RMS. I needed to upgrade power and ground wires and I went back to KnuKonceptz for the 4 gauge. I got 18 ft power and 3 ft ground all shipped for $34 i think. I got about a foot long on the ground and probably 2-3 foot long on the power, but better to overshoot and have enough than to be short on something like that. I did keep the fuse holder I had, but I just bumped up to a 80 amp mini-ANL. I did need to upgrade or replace my remote wire. For that I simply went to autozone and got 16 or 18 gauge wire for like $5 or something like that. While I was still debating as to what amp to get, I went ahead and installed my sub mainly to break it in with my old amp. I didn't push it hard, but ran it solid for a couple weeks or so to ensure it would be ready one I got my amp. Once I got the amp hooked up and ran the new wires, the moment of truth... nothing much happened. Double checked everything and still nothing. That's when I realized that the remote wire wasn't turning the amp on. Once I got that replaced, it worked like a charm.I didn't push things too hard right away since the sub wan't used to this much being pushed through it, so I gave it a couple of days before I turned it up a little more. I have yet to really tune the amp itself, but with my HU, I'm running the X'Over at 100 with normal phasing. Everything thing sounds incredible. The sub never feels like it's straining. It puts off very solid sound that sounds more crisp and natural than the prior setup. I've ran through several genre's of music from metal, rock, rap, techno and both the sub and amp keep up perfectly with one exception. During some double bass, if in the song, esp older mixes, it's kind of muddied up, the sub sometimes trips up. You can distinguish the individual hits most of the time, but occasionally you can hear it kinda miss a kick. All in all, this setup is excellent and I'm looking forward to a long time of listening enjoyment!!! I highly recommend Digital Designs Audio as well as the Kicker amp.
