09 door lock modes-never found

Post by leemur »

2009 2.4I've let this slide a long time because I never could find the info in the owners manual [that every post I read said was there.]Could someone just post the directions here please?I'm so sick of these locks. I would be happy if they unlocked when I shifted to park but they only unlock to "key off." I'd prefer no locking at all but I don't think that's a choice. Thanks a mill.I know about the 03-08 modes. My 04 was always okay, no goofy locking going on.

...you'll need to see your dealer (old Pontiac or Toyota) because they have to do that change via "programming" with their shop computer telling your car computer to change it's factory-OEM "lock" settings.

Try this:1. Turn the ignition ON. (I don't think you need to actually start the engine.)2. Move the shift lever into any position other than Park.3. Press the unlock switch six times.4. Press the lock switch.5. The door locks should do a happy dance.I think this disables the locking when you shift out of park. Without locking, there will probably be no unlocking (but who really knows!). To change it back, repeat the procedure. If you want it to unlock when you shift into park, you'll have to visit the dealer and get them to do it with their expensive programmer.EDIT: Oops, I got it wrong. This disables the UN-locking when you turn off the car, not the locking.

It's in the factory service manual.

Oops, sorry. I got it backwards. That turns off the unlocking when you turn the key to shut off the car. If the procedure worked, the doors would unlock after you press the lock button. But it's not what you want anyhow. You would think if you could program that option, you'd be able to program the rest as well, but the manual doesn't mention anything else about the matter (without using the ScanTool).

Now if only we could get a chirp or beap when we lock and unlock the doors using the remote.

Sooo, this will essentially activate the door locks when you turn the ignnition ON, then unlock them when you turn the key back OFF? Ours (5 spd trans) does nothing right now, would like them to lock in that manner, but I couldn't find anything related to that in our 09 owners manual...

OK, tried it... 'pressed the trigger 6 times then reversed', now the doors get an unlock signal when you turn off the ignition. Which is fine, but seems like the damn thing should send a lock command when you turn ON the ignition right? Guess I will ask the dealer on next service, but perhaps because its a 5 speed something is missing there, who knows...

I own a tech2 scan tool, OEM for Vibe. This weekend I turned off the auto-lock, un-lock features but it seems I am stuck with the auto-unlock on key on/off only occurs when turning ignition to off. I will let ya' know ifI find a defeat for this as well, so far though the other features were disabled. I am often alone in car and just don't want to wear out the lock actuator motors as quickly, lol.

Can you see anything with that scan tool that allows the vehicle to lock the doors when the vehicle speed sensors sense movement like most cars do ? Seems like a pretty basic feature, or when you turn the ignition on the doors Lock. If you can set it to Unlock when you turn off the ignition, surely you can set them to lock ? Seems like a very odd feature for them to omit.

Thanks man, but I guess what you're saying is that neither the scan tool has the option or there is some kind of hack (like pressing the lock button 6 times as mentioned before) which would accomplish this. Appreciate the offer ! But you guys have way too much snow down there... maybe in the summer! Cheers,

LOL I don't blame you!! Maybe if I get up to TO/ONT this winter I will let ya know, I used to go and stay at Chelsea a lot on Younge st . Take it easy, I know when I use the Tech2 it asks for Canada or US model Vibes. I also heard people say that the auto trans has more lock/unlock choices compared to the manual.----Frank
