Cheap air horn install - Harbor Freight

I picked up a cheap air horn from Harbor Freight. Usually $19.99, it was $9.99 so I figured "Why not?" I installed it over by the power steering reservoir:I wired a switch inside so I could sound both it and my normal horn:It's wired to a relay, btw, and I ran my wire through the firewall along with the rest of the main bundle. 40amp fuse at the battery.I'll get a sound clip, it's not a single tone, it alternates between the three horns for now. I'll experiment with combining the air lines. It uses an on-demand compressor that might not be able to supply air to all three at the same time, but it's worth a shot.http://www.harborfreight.com/c...94862

Do they help the drive-thru line move faster? Or at least startle little old ladies?Good on the budget find!!!

Ha, nice! I've added more horns since my last message, looks like I'm doing something very similar to what you are except with various horn lengths so I can get a beefier train sound.

Update! I added the following horn:http://www.harborfreight.com/c...40134It was (is?) on sale for $9.99, so I figured 'why not?' I wired it to a separate circuit from the calliope above and mounted it from the center cross-brace that's in front of the radiator, pointed downwards. It ended up sounding like this:http://hallert.net/images/airhorn2.mp3It was pretty good, but missing a little... something. So I picked up another one (same kit) and swapped out one of the horns with one from the calliope (a different note) and installed it in addition to the one above on the same circuit. It now sounds like this:http://hallert.net/images/airhorn3.mp3All in all, cheap fun that gave me an excuse to crawl around under the car this week. :DI was crossing a railroad trestle recently in the car at the same time a pedestrian was stepping over the tracks without looking around to check for trains. I must have hit a bump, because I accidentally firmly depressed the button for the 4 horns. Whoops! My goal going forward is to avoid the temptation to use it to be an annoying jerk. As this goes against my very nature, I expect it will be something of a struggle.

LoL... I put mine on an unused foglight switch, so I can turn one set off for most of the time.. turn BOTH sets on for when I wanna be noticed..

I just re-installed my OEM horn as alternate to my Stebel Nautilus. It was something I've been meaning to do for quite some time. I kind of missed the little meep-meep...it was fun making fun of it. Anyway, I wired them up through a SPDT toggle switch. Flip the switch up and you get the "nice guy" horn. Flip it down for the "I'll make you poop yourself" horn.

Thats awesome man. I was wanting to put a train horn on mine but i kinda also dig the herby sounding horn.I might need some help with this kinda thing during the summer. Hope you wont be mad if i use ur idea.

Status update: I figured out a way to get the calliope horn to fire all three at the same time. I now have 7 air horns firing at once:http://hallert.net/images/airhorn4.mp3It is... loud.

Recently installed a set of cheap plastic horns from Harbor Freight.Added a fused line from the batt than is the main power for the horns, thru the supplied relay.Much better than the OEM.
