When we bought our Vibe and I found this forum, I came up with a preliminary to-do Mod list. Missing from it at that time was replacing the wimpy stock "Meep-Meep" horn. HPL suggested that I consider revising the list to include a louder horn(s) and it became one of the first things I did to the car. Hence the reason I am dedicating this thread to her.So after that, I had a perfectly good horn and an extra 5-pin relay on my hands. What to do, what to do? The Lawn Tractor. OF COURSE!!!More than once have I wished for a horn on the JD to scare away creatures while mowing or to signal my wife or neighbor. And even better, I had an unused switch on the tractor itself... a momentary contact switch at that!! PERFECT!!! (Can you see where this is going, folks?)We finally got a break in this rainy winter weather we've been having 'round these parts (not to mention planes being flown into IRS buildings)... enough that the ground was dry enough to mow down the winter weeds. So after spending a few hours on it yesterday doing that, and after cleaning out the deck and washing the machine I decided it was time to act. Voilà !! A new life for the old Vibe horn. Unfortunately, it was late already, I had gone to work earlier in the day as well and was tired, so currently I don't have pictures. But I will get some ASAP. (Of course its raining again as I write this. ) Maybe even a short vid. Even Wendy likes the idea. She came out several times only to stand there while I was figuring it all out, and when I asked what she wanted, she said, "to hear the horn!!" Needless to say that after I got it all hooked up and tested it myself, she had to push the button a few times on her own. I'm sure the neighbors were all wondering what the noise was about.

Sounds fun. Not sure that all your Texas-sized creatures would be scared by a Vibe horn though!

Thanks. It was. And on a car the size of a Vibe, it sounds wimpy, but for the lawn tractor it sounds just right. 114db is still pretty loud and sitting more or less out in the open makes a difference too.Pictures (but no video) as promised.Something should look familiar in this pic.Since JD saw fit to attach their relay directly to the harness (red arrow) I didn't see any reason not to do the same w/the new one. That's the new 5A fuse in the lower circle.Since disabling the stupid reverse lock-out switch this little guy has had nothing to do but fill the hole. I thought it was time to put him back to work to earn his keep. He is now the new horn button. Of course only rated at 3/4 amp (Made in Mexico) meant I had no choice but to install the relay in the pic above..
