Hello world,We just got an '04 Fusion orange metallic vibe. 52k miles, 5spd, moon & tunes, etc for $7400. So far we are loving this car. On the test drive, the seating position felt a little weird with the whole half car/half suv feeling. (I am used to cars.) But now it feels great! The car steers and drives nice!I've already ordered the brass shifter bushings (I hate cable operated shifters, hope this improves feel.) I've also ordered a rear sway bar. The car handles nice, but I don't like body roll. I do like the fact that the sway bar may make the rear end slide out during thrashing maneuvers. Anyways, on to the questions:1) On start up, the engine idles at 2k rpm for at least 5 minutes. This seems very high to me, even for a little 4 cylinder. If this is wrong, how do I adjust?2) Engine noise: The engine is very quiet under low throttle and rpm, but when revved up at all, the engine noise is very pronounced. I can't quite call it marbles-in-a-can as some were saying if the belt tensioner thingy needed replaced. Nothing sounds 'wrong.' it is just a tinny growling noise under heavy throttle above 3k rpm. ?3) Something is rolling around under the dash! It sounds like the cig. lighter plug thing is rolling around in the glove box. But the glove box is empty. I removed the glove box, looked around, etc... nothing. The sound actually seems like it is somewhere between the shifter area and the glove box. Any ideas on this? (It is not the little compartment under the shifter... removed that and adjusted the metal bit that keeps it closed.)4) Window weather strip: The weather strip on my drivers side door window has some sort of kink, I'd like to replace the weather stripping. Where do I buy a replacement? Not much luck at the auto parts stores. Anyplace online for parts? All in all, I love this car, I can see keeping this one a very long time and many hundreds of thousands of miles. This is why I hope to figure out these little issues. -Arden
The only one I can help out with is number #4 http://forums.genvibe.com/zero...ge=12 Just make a post on there asking about the weatherstrip and see if he's got some. As you can see through the thread, he's been a standup seller here on our forum.

Welcome! I'm glad you love your car.The engine will idle high for a little bit at startup, I think 5 minutes is a little long. If something is rolling around in the dash, you can pull it apart and find it.

For number one check the IAC valve on the throttle body. After a while they get dirty (carbon build up)and start to make the care idle higher. Use throttle body cleaner or carb cleaner. I had to clean mine when I get the car (57,000 miles) cause it was doing the same thing. It is a b-tch though with the coolant lines attached to it. Kind of makes a mess. Hint put one drop of hydraulic tool oil in the IAC once you clean it. It will make it smooth and the oil is made to keep carbon from coming back. I think there is a how to in this forum or maybe the Matrix one on how to clean the IAC valve.
