Slow to start

Post by glong80 »

Hi everyone....I just picked up an 04' vibe from a friend (84k miles). It is a little slow to crank up after sitting for about a month. I turn the key, and the first attempt to catch is really labored. It will try 3-5 more times before ignition. (This is all with 1 key turn). Yesterday, I replaced the sparks with OEM plugs and cleaned out the K&N air filter. That really upped the performance while driving. However, the cranking is still labored. The battery has an indicator on it that says it is still good. However, I am not sure if it is the original battery or not. Also, the idle stays around 2k when first cranked. However, if I crank a little later, it goes down to 1k. Any idea on this issue too? Thanks everyone

If it is the OEM battery, it is underpowered and probably should be replaced. I just replaced my OEM battery, and occasionally it is a little slow to start.

Change out the PCV and the OEM battery; you will have better results.
