When I fill my 2008 Vibe up with gas it will spit out the mouth right after the pump clicks off - like the pump is clicking off a few seconds too late. This happens at different gas stations - so it's not an issue with the pump or nozzle. The dealer just replaced the neck and spout last weekend but it happened again this AM. Anyone have this issue or found a solution? Thanks - Steve
Welcome to GenVibe, Steve! Interesting...I have never had that happen with my Vibe. It did happen once with my wife's Aztek but the nozzle wasn't all the way in. Does it happen only when you have the gas trigger pulled all the way? How about one click less than full flow? How about on the slowest flow setting?

try using a slower tab on the nozzle. Like pumps near me have 3, slow/medium/fast. When I used the fast one my ms3 and SS did what happened to you; they over flowed.
Blue Crush and Northvibe - thanks for the info. The Vibe is a new addition so I wasn't sure if this was an issue with the cars that I needed to address or just make sure the nozzle is all the way in and the dispenser is set on the lightest notch. So far - super impressed with my Vibe. Nothing too sexy on it, but it gets me to/from work, holds all my stuff for out of town trips and spends less time in front of the gas pump than any other car I've owned! Thanks again for the info
Mine is an 03 & she does it too all the time. Its almost like the pump doesn;t know when to shut off and it overflows. But the only solution I have found so far is just making sure when its getting close to full I slow the flow down. its no fun at all the first time it happened I almost got splashed I just moved my foot in time.. oops. I think its just air locking in the filler tube I have just gotten in the habit of filling slow, barely any of the pumps here in Alberta have the filler stops on the handles so I can't just let it go all out.. Be nice is it didn't do this but ya know if thats the only thing thats really wrong i can deal

My '05 shuts the gas nozzle off almost immediately when I begin filling. I have to pull the nozzel out so that I can see the metal on the nozzel and the catch wire on the nozel is just barely on the ring around the filler. So I have almost the exact opposite problem. I just pull it back, lock it down one notch from the fastest flow and get a good fill. I'm not sure this helps at all. All I know is that my old Pontiac (98 Grand Prix) use to spit gas and that got expensive! Are their still charcoal canisters on cars? Filling those with gas can get expensive.

OH ya sorry, my escape is the same way I have to pull the nozzle out 2-3 inches and it wont shut off on the low setting.
I have never had the problem of over filling, but I also manually hold the trigger/lever up while pumping (I dont lock it on). When it cuts off I just release the trigger/lever. As I hold it all the way up I guess I am getting full flow and I use different petrol stations all the time.
A fantastic solution to a problem that need not exist!
