Something broke whilr putting radio in.What is it!

Post by triggerfreak »

I broke a clip while putting the radio in.It is right below the buttons for the air conditioning and recirculating buttons. It looks like a antenna plug but it is not.It is on the left side of the radio.I broke the white clip that holds it in.What is it and what is it used for. Also my radio had 2 plugs on the back but i only had one plug for the aftermarket wire harness.I left the other one unplugged and the new radio works. What is the other plug for that was plugged into the factory radio.Thanks.2003 pontiac vibe gt with moon and tunes in it.

that cable turns when you turn the selector for the direction and controls if the recycle is on. No worries as long as it's in it's holder it will still work. Most have broke the clips when doing the radio install. Myself included.

It's some sort of 'mute control' which isn't used for anything.

You didn't tell us a year but on some cars the extra wires are for the OnStar service of GM. They generally work through the radio somehow. This severely limits what you can do for a radio upgrade! Dave
