I have a '03 Vibe GT that has been running great. Couple nights ago got into the car, turned on the lights and they flicked on and then were off. Running lights work, brights work. Suggestions? I don't know much about this stuff so forgive the newby question. I looked at the fuse but it appears good and I think it's the same one for regular and brights so since the brights work it can't be that. Bulbs don't typically burn out simultaneously I don't think...not sure what to check from here.
This may sound dumb so please forgive me. A staff member of mine just had something similar happen. She got into her car and both bulb burnt out at the same time. The brights work but no regular beams. I would at least change one bulb and see if that works.
If God didn’t want us to eat meat, why did he make the cow so slow? (Ever eaten a cheetah-burger? Nope. And you never will.)
I will try new bulbs and check the relay......now where will I find the relay so that I can check it?I have to say, this is one of the most helpful forums I've ever been on. I've had a couple of issues before and have always gotten quick, polite and helpfull responses here so big thanks guys!
Got it fixed, just took some new bulbs. Not sure why they would burn out at the same time....or maybe one went out a while ago and I never noticed. I don't drive at night often so it is possible. Thanks again for all the help!
I've had headlights blow within a week of each other. When one blows I just replace the other one automatically. The bulbs are the same age and they they are wearing the same, so it's only a matter of time. I have the tools out and the front of the car apart anyway.

Same just happened to us this morning. Got in the car, and no headlights. Fogs and brights work fine. Both headlights are only 2-3 months old (Silverstar). I hope it's as easy as this or new headlights.Since we drive in the dark both to and from work, had to pull the Vibe back in the garage and take the other car.
Well - mine was a simple one. I just needed to replace my headlights that I replaced 1 day shy of 4 months ago. Both completely dead.I didn't think there was a chance that could be the problem, so was skeptical to even spend the money to buy them. Good thing I started with the cheap option!18.99 * 2 / 122 days = $.31 per day
I went with the cheap Napa bulbs (on sale for $14/pair) because I had no confidence that the bulbs were actually the problem. Since they were, I wish I would have bought the better bulbs. But I was assuming I was going to eat the cost of one bulb to try the simplest repair.I want to upgrade again, but I'll hold off for at least a bit.
I had both low beams burn out at the same time tonight. The high beams worked fine, as did the fog lights. Checked the fuses - check. Checked the relay - still there. Switched HEAD with DIM - same. Took the bulbs out, they looked fine...no black burn marks, filament looked to be intact. Turns out the little silver shield thing at the top of the bulb is where the low beam filament is, and they were both gone. Made it to Walmart a quarter til midnight and I'm back on the road.
