For those of you using laptop computers here is a harmless tip that may send you into warp speed.If it seems slow and sluggish try this,Go into the control panel and locate the POWER OPTIONS (or similar) tab.Double click on it and when it opens you'll notice 3 options. Most likely it is on the top one. If you look down you'll see POWER SAVER and then a HIGH PERFORMANCE tab, click on this one.This simple move made a huge difference for both my and my wife's laptops.We most often have them plugged in so a little power sapping is no big deal. If you are a battery user you probably don't want to do this.Let me know if it makes a differenceDave

To most of us computers are a wonderful tool / toy BUT a tad frustrating and not very well understood.Dave there is the usual run msconfig.exe and uncheck everything that doesn't need to be running at startup. java does not need to start. same with adobe. these two can net you a faster boot and also lower your overhead. but before you go unchecking things, google them just to be sure they aren't a wireless driver or other important component. most of the other stuff i did i got from this book: http://www.amazon.com/Windows-...fkmr1 also, while not typically recommended, turn off virus scanners. they take up a lot of resources. some of the tricky viruses and malware are programmed to avoid, disable, or be hidden by the scanners.
