reset check engine light?

Hi,I don't have access to a scan tool. How can I reset the check engine light on an '06 vibe? Will disconnecting the battery for a set amount of time do the trick?Thanks in advance,Jon

Sometimes it will. If the code is supposed to be there it will come back. Go to an Auto Zone and they can look at the code for you.

I think I fixed it but it has not gone off. Autozone will read it but not clear it.
