Hey all, I just ordered Polk Audio db6501 component speakers. Has anyone installed aftermarket tweeters in their car and if so can you provide pics of the locations? Id prefer 2009 Vibe but any will do.

I think I have pics still up at my cardomain site -- see my sig. I hope it's still active. I haven't been there for a couple of years EDIT: Here's one:Probably not the best spot, but I have no real complaints. Acoustics sound fine.
Sure do, Brian! How've you been? The RDX lease is up and I had decided to put the Vibe on ice pretty much until I was done with the RDX. Now I get to go back to my baby

I like kick panel mounted tweeters myself... Here is a shot where you can see my Polk MOMO tweeters mounted on my kicks.. Wasn't the best mount job, but it's only temp... If I do it again, I would mount them closer to the bottom of the dash... Otherwise, there are a few reasons I like kick mounted tweeters The speakers are farther away from you, which in actuality helps to equalize the difference in distance between your ears and the speakers.. making things sound more solid.. If you think about the stock speaker location in relation to your ears.. You could measure ~4' from the passenger speaker to your ears.. ~3' to the drivers speaker.. Then say if you mount the tweets in the sail panels, you now have a speaker that is ~2' from your ears and another that is ~3.5'... With all the different distance, your ears have a more difficult time putting it all together.. ALSO, the further the tweeter is away from the woofer, the more of an automatic PHASE change occurs at various frequencies.. The closer the tweeter can stay to the woofer, the better the sound will be.. (Yes, that makes a "coaxial" speaker ideal)So, with the tweeters in the kicks, the distanced between the speakers is more equalized... This is called "Path Length" and you are equalizing that the best you can in a car... It's not like a house, where you can choose a central seating position... Whew... lol... Do yourself a favor though, get some velcro, and mount the tweeters in DIFFERENT location, say for a week at a time.. try different music.. See what YOU like best first, THEN make that decision... It's the BEST way.. And if you do this, your sound will benefit..
I used pvc caps to mount my tweeters to the a pillar trim. From where I sit, the pathlength difference is about 1', iirc. I'd like to glass them into the a pillars one day, but I wanted to wait to see if i liked the tweeters enough to do something that permanent.
That's cool, but the distance between the mid and the tweeter is approaching 3'.. Not if you where running "active" and with Time aliment, you could make up for phase issues, but running passive, you can't... Now, understand 99% of people won't care.. lol..
