Vibe for Terrain?

Post by Vibe_dude »

After 5 years Iam thinking of trading in my 2003 vibe for a 2010 GMC Terrain(Probley in the next 6 to 9 mths). Was just wondering what everyone's opinion is,good or bad?

I don't particularly like the look of the '10 Terrain. It's a bit boxy for my tastes. As far as looks are concerned, I really like the '10 Ford Edge. I spent a good deal of time at the Ford dealer where I got my Vibe checking out the Edge while waiting on paperwork and whatnot to go through and I must say it is a very pretty crossover.I know there are a lot of Ford haters here, but my dad has driven Ford ever since I can remember and he beats his vehicles up pretty good and has always had good luck.As far as specs and price go, I have no clue about the two so I'm not sure if they are even comparable. /shrugs.

I for one love the Terrain and was hoping to get in to one last summer but they weren't available so I got the Vibe. Don't get me wrong, I love the Vibe but I did go from a midsized SUV to the Vibe for sake of fuel economy and the wallet. The things I like most about the Terrain is that you can get a very well equipped one for $26K and it seems to have more features that are standard that its rivals plus I like the styling. Its unique and like the Vibe, you don't mistake it for every other car on the road. With all things equal, I think the Terrain is a good value for the price when compared to others, and even the Vibe. After all, my 2009 Vibe had a Window sticker of $22042 and lacks stuff like rear back up camera, Bluetooth, and heated seats that you can get in an SLE Terrain.

does look a little boxy and big up front...you'd give up gas mileage for sure, even the I4 only got 21 overall for CR.Here is what they said about it:HighsRear seat, ride, handling, crash-test results. LowsAcceleration, slow-responding transmission, rear visibility, turning circle.Have you ever looked at the mitsu outlander? My friends wife has one...and I was highly impressed.

If it's what you want then buy it! Beyond the generic luxury quibbles, I have no problem with it good or bad. But the one thing car wise that matters most (to me anyway).....No STICK, no sale!!!

Good fuel economy with the four. It would probably be a nice step up from the Vibe... And at least it's not a Chevy, the can-do-nothing-wrong division. If it were me I'd save some coin and get the new Tucson, it's a little more exciting to look at. But I know you're a GM guy, vibe dude (and I'm not anymore.) lol

I like the two-tone interior design. Personally I like the Equinox better, but if you like the Terrain - go for it. The mpg should be pretty good if optioned right.

At this point in time around here it looks like both the Equinox and the Terrain are going for full msrp (there is a $500 rebate I think). Once supply catches up with demand I think the deals will get better so if you are not in a big hurry you will likely save some serious money by waiting.

I like the Terrain. My father is considering buying a Terrain or an Equinox. He said that from his research if you are going to buy one loaded the Terrain is the better deal.....but if you were going to buy one without all of the bells and whistles then the Equinox was a better deal. Apart of course from the styling differences which could be a factor. Good luck.

I thinks its just one more way to increase a degree of separation from the Chevy.

I just saw one in the ramp. It was black..and it looked good actually BUT there is NO ground clearance what so ever. Less than a vibe!!! Kinda worthless for a suv imo.

Kinda worthless for a suv imo.Totally incorrect. The Terrain has 6.9 inches of ground clearance. The 09/10 Vibe has 5.8 for Base/AWD, and 6.2 for GT. Therefore, it has 18.96% more ground clearance!

It's an urban SUV like the Rav4, CRV, etc. It's not made to go offroad anyway, it is only equipped with an urban-style AWD system and no underbody protection. It doesn't really need much more ground clearance than a regular car or any other urban SUV.Lets not fool ourselves here.... we buy these because they are essentialy better looking minivan with AWD. I admit it... but I still want one.

However I also saw a Toyota Rav4, Ford Escape, Chevy Traverse and a Hyundai SantaFe and they all seemed to have this issue.

I have a 2005 escape and I have a piece but my suv isnt that low. It looks honestly like 4 inches off the ground from that lip, maybe 5. I need to find that black one in the ramp again.but if you dont get snow then you are fine

The front skirt is 8.5 inches above ground on level surface. This is on Terrains with 18 in wheels and 19 in wheels. For comparisons, the new SRX front skirt is only 7 inches above ground.
