New Vibe owner and now it's wrecked

Post by Jharrison »

I just bought my first Vibe Friday. It's an AWD and I love it. And Tuesday night someone hit me in the Wal-Mart parking lot doing $7747.47 worth of damage. I miss it already.

You didn't get much of a chance with your Vibe. Parking lots are easy to get hit in... sorry to hear about that. Gonna fix it?

I really hate to see this... That's some expensive damage for a parking lot hit!At least the walmarter didn't jet leaving you stuck having to pay for it with your own insurance. My old boss had that happen to him.mal*wart just sucks...

You are lucky to (1) know who hit your car and (2) that he/she has insurance. I think a good percentage of the people I see at Walmart are illegals with no insurance. A politically incorrect statement I am sure - but it is the truth. Was the driver drunk? How can you do that much damage in a parking lot?

Gallipolis is right on the border of the state. We are about twenty minutes from the Bob Evans farm. Right acrossed the river from Pt Pleasant which is where I grew up and home to the mothman. The adjuster said that was the largest dollar amount claim he has ever had in a wal-mart parking lot. He was sobber, just a complete idiot. I was going down the aisle and he was cutting acrossed the lot and well you see the end result.

I got the estimate to get my car fixed. 7747.47. The adjuster said that was the highest estimate he has ever wrote for a parking lot crash. Oh well, i'm not paying for it.

I'm not to worried about the cost since i'm not paying for it. I'm just glad he had insurance. Maybe I won't complain when the insurance bill comes anymore.

Man, talk about bad luck. Saw the Facebook pics. That is quite a lot of damage for a parking lot hit. Hope you have a good shop to put it back together. Good luck and welcome to the forums.

Hope they get if fixed soon, and well. It's a brand new car, be extra critical of the work quality, demand perfection, and demand a warranty on the work that would equal whatever parts of the factory warranty were that might be affected by the accident. You should also look into trying to get a settlement for the loss of value onthe vehicle's resale value, not something one tends to think about with a brand new car, but having that accident on the car's record can affect it's resale value, which is a monetary loss suffered by you as a direct result of the negligence of the other driver.

I talked to the shop manager. He seemed like a real perfectionist. He guaranteed me it wouldn't leave until it was perfect. The adjuster and I talked alittle about a settlement, he is supposed to contact me in a few days. The decreased value was one of my biggest concerns.

I really don't care if the shop manager is a perfectionist... you should be.Before you sign off on the repaired Vibe, take it outside and look at every angle of the vehicle, up, down, 45 degree angle, near and far.Paint match should not be that much of a problem on a car that new, but with unibody construction, make sure everything aligns.I love seeing bad repair jobs, especially on silver cars, why owners would sign off on those is one of the mysteries of life.MSAGRO

At first they gave me a Chevy Cobalt. I threw a fit because it was a piece of crap, and it was a step down from what the insurance agreed to pay for. So now I am driving a Dodge Avenger. It's ok for a rental car. The worst part is the smell. I hate the smell of cigarette smoke and wouldn't ya know the world's worst chain smoker had before I did. We are getting a nice little snow storm here and instead of having my AWD awesome Vibe I'm stuck with a rental that smells. I just want my car back

Hopefully it is. When my six month old Vibe got hit I was without it for a month while the insurance company argued with itself and dragged its feet going to look at the car every time they found something else. We both had the same insurance company - you would think that would make it easier, it didn't... Damage on it came to around $8k after it was all done (original estimate was under $3k). The only good thing is I still have a clean Carfax report. lol.

Just an update. They sold my rental car so I had to get another one. It's a 2010 Sebring. It's actually really nice. They had a Vibe on the lot I thought I was going to get but it has been recalled so I couldn't get it. They hope to have my car done by mid next week. I'll keep ya posted.

I am sick. Another reason why I hate Wal-Mart. Anyway, I park as FAR as I can from stores. 1. Because I don't want any marks on my car. 2. Exercise (tee hee) 3. It shows the car off--out by himself (yes, mine is male--tee hee) people might notice and think what a special car that is to park it so far away (it is special, and I KNOW y'all "get it")and 4. I park as far away from Wal-Mart also. Not for the door ding issue, but for the fact that someone I know may spot my car and see me shopping at Wal-Mart.

I've never had a good experience with a body shop. Seems like they don't even begin taking the car apart for a week, then they wait another week to order the parts they think they need, then some of those parts go on backorder, then they start working on the car again and find they need more parts. Then they start promising the car will be done, but it is always on a Friday at 5:00 pm, then it isn't done, they find they need another part, another Friday, etc.The person who comes along and reinvents the body shop business will make a fortune and hopefully drive all the rest of 'em out of business.
