i have a 2003 vibe with 160k miles on it. This morning i started the car up and started driving away. As i got up into higher rpms it seemed to slip like a clutch was going out but it is automatic. so i just kept on driving to see if it would go away. this proceeded to get worse and worse and soon it wouldnt even shift into 2nd. once i got home i notice at idle it had a very loud metal on metal sound. i checked the bolts on the flywheel that conect the flywheel and torque convertor, two of the bolts were loose. i tightened the bolts and the noise went away. I then took it out to see if that fixed my problem, but it didnt and before i left i noticed that it wouldnt shirt to reverse or nutral. but as i left it still would shift into second and still was slipping really bad. after about a block of driving the trans went into nutral and wouldnt go into any gear. this is now where im at and have no idea if it is the torque convertor, a sensor of some kind, or the transmission itself. its not leaking at all and fluid levels look good. please tell me your ideas of what could be wrong. thanks
codes are empty because i took the battery out to get a better look at the trans. but last time i checked the codes it was a miss fire. and thats why the check engine light was on.
It's really tough for me to diagnose it without experiencing it or seeing the codes. See if you can get another code and I will do what I can. A misfire code can lead to many other solutions. Mine had a misfire code when it needed a intake manifold gasket and a MAF.

its all good it was the filter that got clogged and wasnt allowing fluid to get up into the forrks and gears. so if anyone has a problem with an auto shifting or getting into gear thats the ticket. runs great.
