It's a good option for the base owner. Good pick up and torque at the low end. But I still like my GT a little more. I also do not regret getting the GT.

I took a look to the pics at the Vibe meeting and the cut engine cover looks like pure crap!!!Let's hope GM will provide another engine cover to fit the SC.

Jeff Strausser said that almost everything needing to be done to the Vibe has to be run through and approved from Toyota.. hence the delay for some items that normally don't take too long to produce.A modified engine cover is one of those items..
First ride I took I was kinda dissappointed - but due to the traffic we never really got it going.Second ride I took was great So much better than my base automatic, I can't wait to put one of these in ... and mess with the boost, pullies, intake....exhaust.... make this thing scream! "A few more weeks" eh? The day it's available, I'm ordering one
as I said in the Michigan Meet forum, I'm not really sure how to feel about the SC yet. The car was loaded down with people, was an auto, and I wasn't driving it so I don't even know how hard the GM rep was stepping on the pedal. I'll need to drive one myself with a manual tranny to see for sure. I'm pissed I still haven't gotten a ride in a GT yet. Also of note, we did notice the the throttle body is oriented differently on the SC so everyone will probably need to get new intakes.
2003 Base Vibe: 5spd, Neptune (monotone), everything but Nav system
quote:I do not think the S/C vibes had a custom made cover I belive that one was just cut better than the other- Anyone else look closely at the cover? You're right. One looked like someone took their time and cut away the cover with a dremel tool while the other was cut that way just to make room with no real attention to detail.
I have been driving abroud for about 4k w/o one...at first I wanted to always see...VVT-i...so I could feel coud about my car....but ..I dont care anymore...I like the reall valve cover , and the fuel rail better....so I suggst that if you get the SC,,,take it off! and let the SC be the center piece of your motor...then take your engine cover and hang it on your wall or something...I havenot figured out wht to do withe mine...maybe one of you can think of something...??quote:I took a look to the pics at the Vibe meeting and the cut engine cover looks like pure crap!!!Let's hope GM will provide another engine cover to fit the SC.

One of the members at matrixowners posted this from the new TRD catalog: price sheets were not shipped with the catalog, so I have no Idea how much its gonna cost. I should be getting the price sheets soon though. One interesting peice of info though. They said the super charged 5spd XR went from a 16.7 @ 84 mph to a 15.8 @ 87 mph and improved on the 0-60 mph from a 9.0 to a 8.3.Pretty close to a GT or XRS. I thought it would be quicker in the 1/4 mile. Depends on the cost now if it's worth it or not.
quote:Does your cover fit with the turbo piping?if you look at the back, you see the turbo..It will melt the cover, the fuel kit on the right and the ic pipe on the lef might be in the way as well.,,but I honestly never tried to modify it to make it fit [IMG][/IMG]

You may be able to squeeze a few seconds quicker if you have a harder launch, but then again I've heard of good launches doing the same for a GT. In the end, you can't go wrong with either engine setup IMO.
