How to DIY aftermarket speakers in 09' Vibe

Post by ss21 »

Hey guys, I want relpace the 4 OEM door speakers in my 09' Vibe (without M&T). So, I had couple of questions. I'm looking at these spearks that require 2.3" mounting depth http://www.futureshop.ca/catal...catid=What is the largest speaker that can be installed in our Vibes? And finally and the most important...does anybody please have a DIY instructions for changing the speakers, as I have never changed speakrs in doors, and unlucky for me all the speakers in the Viber are in door. Thanks in advance!

I looked into this earlier this year and from what I gathered, you can go with a 5-3/4" all the way to a 6-3/4" diameter speaker that are top mount with a max of about 2-1/2" in depth. You will need Toyota speaker wire adapters unless you want to cut the wires and solder the new speakers and you will need to drill new mounting holes since the Toyota speakers are made with a funky bracket. If you haven't purchased yet, check out http://www.crutchfield.com since it comes with all the wire adapters and mounting instructions free with purchase of speakers. Also check out the thread from some one who did it on an earlier vibe. Though its the first generation vibe, the process is still 95% the same. http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=785
