I bought my Vibe with 100,000 miles on it a few years ago. The dealership had replaced the clutch before I bought it Since I've had it, I've run her up to 180,000 with only a new catalytic convertor and oxygen sensors needing replacing. A note to all GT drivers, premium means Premium. I couldn't be happier with the perfomance, but I've had one issue plague my Vibe since I bought it. It has trouble shifting into first, I have to sometimes pull the shifter back and let the clutch out and start over. This is a pain when I'm at red light. There's always been alot of noise coming from shifter itself when in motion and it doesn't move as smoothly as it should, clicks and pops. I've replaced the shifter bushings on the tranny with brass ones, which helped a little. I've also lubricated the whole assembly with no improvement. I'm figuring the lady who had it before me didn't know how to drive a clutch and did internal damage, just a thought.
Welcome to the forum, first off I was going to recommend changing out your shifter bushings and lubricating the mechanism (both at the transmission and beneath the shifter itself) until I read your last sentence This may not be the issue, but have you ever drained and changed the transmission fluid? I did mine a ways back and I seem to remember smoother shifting afterwards. Might help, it's a cheap step in the right direction anyway.

Sorry guys, I meant to add I've been on this forum for years under mike7311, but I cheanged my email and lost my password. I'll look into using the lucas. I have not checked the bushings on the actual shifter, how do you access them, where do you get replacments? I found the transmission bushings easily, but have seen nothing about shifter. Thanks
