I've search the forums on this one and tried what was reccomeneded in other peoples posts.problem: both the front and rear wipers are not working. No noise at all from either of them.Solution tried so far: I got into the fuse box and check the "washer" fuse. Pulled it and even put in a new one. Still nothing. Before i go under the car to try to replace the pump(s) what else can i try? 2 weeks ago, i put on new wipers (like that matters) and they worked fine.
Make sure you aren't getting any sound, by having someone try them when you have you head right up in that area. Should work with ignition on, but car not running, to make it easier to hear. Also make sure that they are not just frozen solid. I don't know how cold it's been up there in MN latelyThe circuit for the washers is pretty simple. Both run off the same washer fuse. 12V fromt hqt fuse goes to both pumps. The switch sends a ground to the other side of the selected pump to turn it on. If the fuse is good as you say, then it is either the switch, or perhaps a dirty or corroded connection somewhere, or the freak coincidence of having both pumps fail in the same 2 week period. Each pump should have 2 wires going to it. Check the voltage at the pump when someone turns the switch to washer on. If you don't have a meter, you can MacGuyver an automotive bulb *** a test light. If you get voltage, then the pump is likely bad. If you don't get voltage there, then the problems is likely not the pump. You can also check for voltage between the wires at the pump, and a known ground, like the fender. If you're getting 12V there, but no switched ground from the switch, then I'd suspect the switchFrom the wiring diagrams, it looks like on each of the pumps, the solid blue wire is 12V, the front one gets a Blue with yellow stripe for the switched ground, the rar pump gets a blue with red stripe for the switched ground (at least that's what the wiring diagrams indicate, I haven't looked at the actual car wires there)
