Warmin' Up The Vibe!

Post by 09vGT »

So since winter is close by and my area is experiencing unseasonably low temps, I want to buy something with my Christmas money for my Vibe! I was thinking maybe seat warmer for the front two seats.. Or a remote starter, the add on kind that I can still use my standard key fob. Or anything else I could possibly do.. My budget will be around $300-$400 dollars..

I vote "other". Check out this Gerbing jacket liner. Walk out to car, enter, plug in liner, and instant heat!http://www.gerbing.com/Product....html

So, is going outside and starting a car really that painful or difficult?!?While you are out there after the car is started, brush the snow off, visually look at the tires, unfreeze the wipers from the glass, let the dog do whatever he needs to do in the morning and then go inside and enjoy your cup of coffee! You do know that excessive warm up wastes fuel and isn't really good for your engine??For $300, I'll come start your car for you!!!Dave

Remote starter has its advantages depending of the severity of winter in your area.If you remember to set the defrost at maximum the night before, you can remote start the car on cold mornings and let the defrost work its magic a few minutes before you go outside. The windows will be unfogged, the ice on your wipers will have started to melt and the broom work will be much quicker.... not to mention the car will be warm and the engine warmed up.

Before I'd add seat warmers I'd like to have a heated steering wheel.Hey, maybe gloves!

Kinda off topic but nothing beats a heated toilet seat! With the money left over I'd do a remote start.Aron

Synthetic oil helps a lot! The engine turn a lot easier during cold startup!

My '05 Vibe has an engine block heater (frost plug), an oil pan heater (flat patch attached to the bottom of the oil pan) and a 1500watt space heater that I use to warm the interior. The car is garaged, and I can turn everything on from inside my house.I LOVE getting into a warm car, in the morning. When it's 0F (-18C) An hour with the engine and oil pan heater on brings the temp up to about 50 to 60F (10 to 15C) according to my Scan Gauge.
