DIY tints from ebay?

Post by nittanydoug »

Has anyone ever done a tint off ebay where they are supposedly pre-cut? I need to do something to spruce up my 05 blue vibe. I think a little tint to the windows will make it not so bland. I don't know how dark I'd go, preferable lighter so I can still see. I wondered how the fit/finish was on these pre-cut kits. Any one have input?

No experience with pre-cut but it seems like it would be harder. I used roll stock, hacked out a piece larger than the window and applied. Trim to fit with a razor blade as you work out the bubbles.

Pre cuts arent that bad. Just gotta make sure you put it on right and straight. My brother dose tint at his shop and he has a computer to cut out the windows of cars he is doing. Makes it easier for me

Hey, I had a company in Ann Arbor do mine at 30% and it turned out great. Was 150 bucks or something.I have tried applying tint myself and I don't have the patience for it. I get tons of bubbles and it looks terrible. Will

I put tint on a long time ago, maybe 12-15 years ago. I had more time but probably less patience then. I really dont know that I want to plunk down $150 on it though.

I have 15% all around... it's really not that bad at night... at first it looks really dark but it's just something to get use to.http://www.tintcenter.com/laws/MI/

if you dont trust yourself 150.00 is worth it, i have done window tint on a few trucks of mine and 150 is well worht the money. on my last vibe i think i paid 135 and i went i think 30 front and 20 rear i really liked it like that, speciall when ohio has a law for 30 or 35 % tint.

maybe this spring I'll have to get some prices from shops around home. Don't know how the blue will look with the tint though.

I bought the kit from ebay, was cheap, worked fine. Left the same tint that is standard. No front windows installed, illegal in IL. All went in perfect, well almost perfect. Rear window didn't work due to the curve, struggled with it for an hour then just decided not to install. Some say a heat gun would have helped or hair drier, kind of shinking it, like shrink wrap, but looks good with only rear windows. I recommend, and only $30 I think.
