Source for Magazine (Holder) for CD Changer- 03 Vibe GT

Post by cee2SLC »

Hi All-I'm new to this forum-- just bought a used 2003 Vibe GT (Lava- mmm!) last month, and am loving the car! But, I want to listen to music. The car has the NAV system with the CD Changer under the passenger seat. However, I bought it used, and it appears that somewhere along the way, someone stripped out every accessory that wasn't nailed down-- no Nav DVD, no Owners Manual, no Floormats, and most importantly, no Disc-Changer Magazine.I searched through the topics on this forum, also Googled it, and also checked e-Bay, but it doesn't look like there is much info out there about this.Is it possible to get a replacement CD holder from a dealer? Aftermarket? Anyone on this forum have one to sell/gift/trade (since it looks like a lot of people have upgraded to Ipods & Satellite tunes.good group and glad to have found you!!Chris CSLC UT

Get as much info from who you bought your GT from. Who knows, It may be in his garage on a shelf. If you want your Navigation to work, here's a Matrix DVD for the Vibe.It should work on your Vibe system.http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...93732Goodluck.MSAGRO

MSAGRO-thanks for the link. I was looking for that DVD earlier on E-bay, but was looking under "Vibe". Didn't occur to me to look under Matrix. But wow- $65 for an out-of-date database. That's a good racket!I also looked for a CD magazine for a Matrix (searched "03 Matrix CD") with no luck. Any other leads? If not, I suppose I'll have to dig in (up to my ears!) to the discussions on aftermarket conversions/upgrades to something with an Aux for an IPod...thanks!Chris in SLC

cee2slc,If you can afford it, get what I got. Last year's Pioneer Z3 Nav system. They go for about 1/2 what they did last year, and are superior to the new Poineer units they have out now. This has the 08 maps, DVD player, and 10gig hard drive for music. No more CD's in the car, just put a CD in once and it uploads the songs with titles and such.I have been very happy with mine.Splurge... the Vibe is so reliable, you can invest in one of these instead of repairs on a lesser vehicle:

I forgot to mention it has bluetooth and voice activated Navigation. It's harddrive driven, much better response time than DVD based systems. Here's a review on the Z3:http://g35driver.com/forums/au....htmlHere is one I found on eBay:http://cgi.ebay.com/Pioneer-AV...2fafdAlso call around to some car stereo shops in Salt Lake and see if they have any, it's a discontinued item, and you should get a new one for about 900 dollars, the retail last year was twice that.Good luck.

ulp!!! I guess I'd better start being nice so Santa will be nice to me (LOL ;-)It looks like the ideal fit for that big square space in the dash though. I was wondering about that...One question-- how do you upgrade this thing-- such as 3 years from now when you need new maps? That's basically the issue with the 2003 Vibe and the OEM DVD that was only provided for one year. And I'm planning on owning this car for a long time: My last Toyota (a Camry wagon) went 250 K and I'm only at 100K on this car (but this one is MUCH more fun to drive!!)
