OUTSTANDING ! But, I would go a step further & prime then paint the wood with gray enamel to match the interior.

I didn't want to ruin the new car smell. I thought about covering the bottom side too, but when its in the car you have to squat to see the bottom sideMy only regret is I should have taken a hole saw to the deck before covering to cut the weight some more

I take it you removed the plastic tab hooks on each side of of the rear quarter panels?Compression style beams that provide support, clean and simple design. Well done!

Clever idea with the hinges.
