Accessory Overload - wiring schematic

Post by murphsouth »

with all the additional electronic devices plugged into my 2006 Vibe lighter I would like to make sure I'm not overloading my circuit. Is there a schematic available for me to size an additional cigarette lighter outlet?(e.g. XMSat, GPS, phone charger)

Have you blown a fuse??? If not, then it's not overloaded.

The outlet in the dash is on the same CIG fuse as the radio. It's maybe a 15 amp fuse, and is in the fuse block up under the dashboard, which is a pain to get to.If I had an 05-08, the most likely first mod I'd do it is would be to use http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=13711 and add the second outlet to the inside of the console between the seats. It's one of the easiest mods you'll see written up here. (nobody's dug into the 09-10's yet) That one is powered by the 15 Amp PPOINT fuse, which is in theh pain to get to fuse block up under the dash.

If you are looking for the parts to add a 12V Accessory Outlet to the center console that Joatmon pointed out, I have the parts needed to perform the conversion. They are new in the package. Send me a PM if interested.

The biggestdrawer of amps which may overload that circuit, would be the cigarette lighter itself. If you have those other items plugged in & turned on, & it blows a fuse when lighter is pushed in,,, thne it is overloaded & need a seperate circuit. Don't even think about using a larger FUSE !!

Greetings, I decided to take on the dc power in the console mod. It worked great! However, I was re-installing the console and the power tap fell off and touched the underside of the seat and made a quick buzzing.. grounding it out. Now I have no power for my new mod.I am hoping I just popped a fuse but where would I find it? I only know of the fuse box in the engine. Where is the second fuse box located? Would the "phantom dc power" wires even be fused??Thanks in advance!Steve R

Found it - Popped a 15a - P/POINT Fuse Found it in the interior (under steering wheel) box. It is the second fuse to the right of the 15a INV. fuse.
