I think these are directional snow tires. Now I need to pay attention to installing them correctly. Also, come to find out these snow tires comes with a 40,000 mile warranty.

So I installed the winter tire package I pieced together over a 6 week period. It took me about 45-50 minutes to change all 4 tires. I was expecting the TPMS Light to come on, well guess what.... Nothing!?!?!?!?!No light at all; at this point I am not sure what to think. Unless the shop who mounted the tires on the rims put sensors on, but I don't think they did as nothing was noted on the invoice. Any thoughts?

Quote, originally posted by keithvibe »which vibe did you put them on?are the valves black? or silver(metal)? How close are the other tires to the car?The 2008 and 2009 have a TPMS... The valve stems are black (rubber) if I remember correctly. It crossed my mind that all 4 OEM rims/tires were in the garage, the car would still be sensing the light. Well, we took a drive to the store about 13 miles away as I wanted to test the balancing and control on the expressway @ 70 mph or so... After all that, still no light.

I can't recall if the 08's had the sensor in the tire or if they were still on the brake drum.I know the 09's have it in the tire. So if you were driving the 08 that might explain it.Usually the tires with the sensors in the rim are metal.***scratching head***

The TPSM are built into the valve stem themselves (or a part of it). I am just curious... May have to let some air out of a tire to see if a light pops on.

It took 1 day for my TPMS light to come on after I installed my winter tires.... it did the same thing last year. I don't understand it but I decided it was probably not worth scratching my head too much.

When your light does come on ignore it, just like you do the headlight and cruise lights when they're on. I don't understand the big deal about taping them.
Dude, those look BEEFY... Sorry, i'm late to the party here, I tend to stay away from picture posts as they usually kill my awesome web-over-cell connection... so far so good.. lol.. I can't wait till you get some snow to play in .. lolI'm hoping it will stay away one more week...
I took my wife's Kia Soul out today to with her snows on. We put over 50miles on the car and the TPMS light never came on.Stupid system.. pointless if it never works right when you need it. Think about it... we just put over 50miles on tires that the computer should think are completely flat and yet no light

in WV its an annual inspection. I think though that rather than going the tape route (which probably would work.....) I'll just make sure I get the inspection done while the snow tires are still on (the TPMS sensors are still on there). Seems funny that in Michigan Land of the Big Three, there is no inspection. In Pennsylvania, its every six months.

Lat time I lived in PA (1974) they did it twice a year and were pretty serious about it. You should have seen the drivers ed movies the State Police put together (yeagghh...don't eat dinner first....especially pizza....) Maybe you're a little younger than that. At any rate, I'm glad PA has eased up. They needed that,Just out of curiosity, how did you end up with all those extra sets of lug nuts laying around? Myself, I only need enough nuts to hold my wheels on... are these like National Guard lug nuts or something .....

So the stockers kept piling up.yea in 74 i was just coming out of the womb

And I am guessing your garage is a pretty crowded place, by the way. You're pretty resourceful when it comes to automobile stuff....Maybe PA has cut down on their inspections but have they cut down on their taxes? I doubt that. That is one of my other big memories of the Keystone State. I was actually living in your neck of the woods (near Stroudsburg) in 1971-72, working for a tree trimming outfit on contract to PPL (power lines). We used to get down south towards Allentown all the time. Its a gorgeous area, at that time with more than its share of rednecks and mill workers. It was there I first learned to chew Red Man (which I fortunately soon afterwards forgot) and received my first serious instruction in cursing (every once in a while it comes back to me, like when I tear off a nail or something...). When I saw The Deer Hunter (the movie about returning Nam vets) I always thought hey, that's Bethlehem (though it turns out to have been filmed in Ohio...) bet things have changed down there.....OFF TOPIC!! and much more importantly...its snowing!! BM1Garage, basement is overflowing with car supplies and home repair supplies. LOL I think the only reason my wife lets me keep the stuff is because I can usually fix 98% of the issues that arise weather car related or home related.Pa, has changed leaps and bounds since the late 70's early 80's. There are a few "rednecks" left, but most are city transplants anymore who brought the city with them and the issues associated with the city element. (drugs, crime, ect)Taxes go up every year. What we used to pay for taxes 20 years ago wouldn't pay one quarter years taxes now. There aren't too many trees left to trim. LOLThe "poconos" is no longer the poconos, it's now traffic nighmares and houses, houses, and more houses. Once apon a time you needed to drive 20-30mins to get to the nearest store. Since the city folk moved to the county it's no longer the country. Years ago the common statment of people who lived in Pa judged a road trip by the time it took them to get there not the miles. Most didn't care that the nearest store was 30miles away.Yea Bethlehem is known for two things... steel and "the christmas city". The steel plant closed years ago and now the sands casino now stands there with a "hint" of what used to be there. Sorry grizz for getting your topic off track. I'm sure you can't wait for the snow to fly. I'm digging the hub caps. Next year paint them black
