What's the restrictive part in the exhaust?

Post by DrunkenMonster »

I know in the Bonneville I had it was the cat. I am wondering if its all or certain parts on the Vibe's exhaust. There's no sense replacing it all if some of it is good and not make a difference upgrading.

usually its the downpipe and cats. but on this 1.8NA engine... the exhaust header is fairly restricted then you could 2" the rest of the exhaust to gain some.

The cat doesn't last as long as some and it both gets more restrictive and throws the computer for a loop when it poops itself. but such is the case with a lot of cars out there.

Let me rephrase. What can I replace that I will see a improvement in fuel economy.

It all depended upon how I drove in a given situation.Dave
