If I had a chip and it was very small and very hard to see, I'd probably go for paint chip repair. I'd be nervous about getting a repainted panel. So many things can go wrong down the line - uneven fading, paint failing, orange peel, peeling at the edges...

I am anxious to check my 09 Frosty. Maybe I can finally throw up a picture or two as well. If it has this problem, the owner (girlfriend) will definitely be upset because she has never dealt with a dealer before and I've done everything for her (negotiating as if I was the buyer, negotiating on tires/oil change, etc...), let alone taking out a rental car if they cannot work with her schedule. Will report back :- but thank you very much for alerting us to this, because I probably would not have noticed yet or for a long long time, if ever.
I'm pretty new here and just purchased my '09, so i'm just now learning about and finding some of the common issues/problems. Just to let everyone know, and to bring this to the attention of newer members, bulletin #09-08-51-001A is still available. It has been updated to include the 2010 model year and also states directly, "Do not repair the paint without the seal repair complete".Needless to say my '09 has this issue along with the wheel center cap issue (#08-03-10-011A).
I purchased a black 2010 Pontiac Vibe AWD and had the same exact problem you are experiencing with the rear wing rubbing the paint off. I solved the problem by cutting two 1/2"wide x 6 1/2" long black neoprene rubber strips. The neoprene is 1/16" thick. I removed the rear wing and placed one rubber strip on the side of the car where the paint was rubbing making sure that the edge of the wing would come in direct contact with the strip of neoprene. The other piece of neoprene was placed on the other side of the wing so the appearance would be the same. I did not glue these two neoprene strips down relying solely on the pressure of the rear wing pressing against them to hold firmly in place. I used my finger to gently press the neoprene strips so the edges were in line with the rear wing. It looks like a "factory" job and cost only pennies for the neoprene. Prior to doing this job, I used GM touch-up paint on the damaged surface and allowed it to dry. The problem is obviously a design flaw that Pontiac never corrected. I refused to allow a dealer to touch the car since I had little faith that the problem would be corrected properly, and truthfully an incompetent mechanic could have made the appearance worse. I thought before I read this forum that my car was the only one with this very annoying problem. The simple fix that I did is still working and in no way detracts from the car's appearance. Good luck to all of you!!!
