The Vibe Crumple Zone Part 2 (When Your Car Comes Home)

Post by disneydj »

Hey it only took about three weeks, but after hassling the insurance company I finally got her back. They were waiting on Vibe badges for the side doors... so I reminded them that I removed them, and I don't want 'em back on there. Was surprised to see that my GrafxWerks Badge was still in place on the front, and my LED's in the windsheild washers had been placed in the new hood. However they forgot to put the wipers in the normal positions after reinstalling the windshield, luckily I knew how to fix that thanks to y'all. They also made the shift lock cap dissappear, and I'm missing the screw in the sunroof cover panel. Also my temperature is not displayed on my speedo. Just two digital lines where the temp should be. Pontiac said to bring it in and it'll take a couple minutes to fix that.So what was the final cost... Cost to me $500 deductible... cost to Progressive 6,348.22.Here are some pictures...

nice repair...looks like they put in a new core support + alot of other reinforcements....$$$$$ to fix, though. want to know something interesting? if one looks up the identical parts for repair ( that interchange of course) for the matrix, the matrix parts can be up to 50% cheaper...thats not only for some common body parts but also mechanically, yet the insurance is roughly the same for both, until a few vibs get wrecked, lol. wonder how long it will take for insurance companies start jacking up the premiums for vibs due to part $ differences?

Toyota parts aren't ALWAYS cheaper. Sometimes GM wins out. But my guess is GM parts are more expensive because they have to buy them from Toyota...so they need to make up that somewhere...
