M&T tweeter problem after AM HU install

Post by YooperInMT »

First of all I want to thank all of you for the help researching the hows and tos. I have a 2003 vibe GT with the M&T package. I purchased a JVC kw-nx7000 Head unit, and proceeded to do the install with the scorche limiter, and the scorche GM adapter. I took my time. Soldiered everything together, and taped the whole patch harness and the scorche due to the stiffness of the wires trying to pull out of the scorche when I stuffed it in the dash. Anyway, the one unexpected problem I had was, that when I turned everything on, it was crystal clear, and LOUD!, but no tweeters at all. I was under the impression that the tweeters were driven by the amplifier using the signal from the front channels. It is possible due to the pure volume of sound increase that I blew them both upon first turn on without noticing, but I dont think so.Any comments/suggestions would be helpful. All other aspects of the install went flawlessly with the radio having no distortion whatsoever at an extreme power increase. The scorche is at 75%. The back speakers are pushing a lot more base than I thought they could, and I am very happy with the sound. The only other thing I am going to do after writing this is to go dig out my voltmeter, and see if those tweeters are actually blown. Thanks again for your help...yooper In Montana
