Windshield Wiper does not work -Front - 2010 Vibe

On a road trip in my 2010 Vibe in a major rainstorm with everything working normally. Highway extremely wet and heard a sound like water dripping in the back of the car so pulled over to check it out. Turned off the engine, found nothing so started the car. The front windshield wipers would not start ( back wipers worked fine and the cleaner fluid came out front with no problems.) ( We were miles from civilization .) After checking numerous things and the manual, we called OnStar who phoned a dealer who could not help. After a period of time the rain letup and we went to drive to the nearest dealer. I kept trying the wipers and after 10-15 minutes at highway speed , the wipers worked fine and have ever since. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Did you have the wipers still going when you turned the engine off?

No. The wipers were turned off when I turned off the engine.

Wiper motor probably overheated

exactly star deceiver, heavy rain means the blades were moving a lot of water, motor was hot, took a few minutes to cool down.
