Satellite Radio Antenna Question

Post by dertitan2 »

I have a 2009 Vibe 1.8L Automatic, I switched over the stock radio onto my XM subscription...I will be installing a new Kenwood Head Unit...Unfortunately, the model I have purchased is only setup for Sirius...Here is my question, will I be able to utilize the existing XM antenna with the Sirius Turner that I will be installing with the Kenwood Head Unit or will I have to use the antenna that comes with the tuner (Audiovox SC-C1 for Sirius).I know that you can purchase an XM turner that will work with my new Kenwood Head Unit, but you do not get all the functionality as you do with the Sirius Tuner and my new head unit. Also, does anybody have the factory wiring diagram for the stock radio for 2009 vibes, I apologize, I did not find it on this site, if you can direct me to the correct post, I would be very appreciative.

I've used the XM Micro antenna with my Sirius plug-and-play receiver, they used identical plugs and apparently the frequencies are close enough between the two providers that the antenna still worked fine. Not sure how the sat antennas connect on the OEM radios though. If it's the typical connector, perhaps it would plug right in. If it's a proprietary connector, time to mount a Sirius ant on the roof!

I use a sportster 5. The unit is in the lower left of the windshield. The ant. cord runs out the drivers door, inbetween the gap of the quarter panel and A-pillar. Up under the windshield moulding and along the inside of the rubber insert on the roof rail dowm to the back.
