So I took in my '10 Vibe to the dealer yesterday for an oil change and door lock/unlock program and today I noticed 2 good-sized black spots on the seat cushion! 1,300 miles on my baby. Here I am trying to be careful and along comes a greasy rear on my new seat. I noticed that there was no seat protector and the advisor said that it was removed when they pulled my car back in to program the locks. They said to come back and they will use a "cleaner" but this has me even more worried/upset. I am thinking of asking for a new seat cover but who knows what damage will occur from that! What do you guys think? Thanks. (BTW, the reprogramming didn't work and nothing has changed - double smack!)
I am so sorry, I UNDERSTAND your frustration and pain. If the grease stain doesn't come out, and it may not, I would for sure request a new seat cover. Even if it does come out so often a previously cleaned soiled spot will be quicker to re-soil than the surrounding area. That shadow of the stain will keep showing up over and over again. If you do recover, request they sub the work out to a competent upholstery shop and to not let their oil change kid do it!!I shall refrain from my periodic rants about the horrors of letting others service your car. oooops, I'm gonna rant....... I hate, hate, hate, hate, hate!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! having others service my car in any fashion. I even hate having tires put on. I do all that I can and used to work in a shop with a tire changing and balancing machine but alas, no more.It just always seems like something happens. Soiled, not done correctly, bolts left off, plastic gouged, etc. I'll stop here, to save you the pain of reading my rants much longer.Dave
I no this is kind off topic... but what kind of programming can they do to the locks.. Is there anything else you can have customized? Sorry about your seat.. my old car I always had oil change done at walmart.. not only was there grease on my tan seats but steering wheel, door panels.. windows..
Good guess! I live less than 2 miles away but I think my future with them is looking dim. I won a free oil change a few months ago and decided to take advantage of it. Our salesperson was great but the service dept. needs to get their act together. Can you recommend an alternate Pontiac dealer in the area?
Thanks for your support, fellow members! I will go back and demand a new seat cover as long as the seat doesn't need to be removed first. The fact that they want to spray and rub a CHEMICAL on my NEW seat is hard to digest. My car is brand new and deserves to be in perfect condition for the time being.Regarding the locks, I wanted to have the dealer reprogram them so that they would lock automatically when the speed reaches 8 mph and then unlock when I remove the key. Also, I wanted the horn to chirp when I locked the car (thought the owners manual mentioned this). The lock/unlock didn't change when I drove away and the horn chirp wasn't even in the tool and/or summary sheet that the dealer printed. I can scan and attach it if anyone is interested. Take care all and enjoy one of the best engineered "GM" cars out there!

Tell him that Genvibe sent you there!
Get the new seat cover. A new seat cover will look like new, and be factory. I replaced the seatcovers in my F-250 years back with OEM covers, did not have to take the seats out to do it. Even if they do have to take them out, get the new cover, check their work and enjoy your car...

Try to do your own oil changes. This is something that unfortunately happens a lot in service situations. Nice wheels get scraped, vulnerable plastic parts get scratched and grease gets spread where it shouldn't. The list is long. You have every right to ask for a new seat or seat cover. Just don't let this group do it.

I'd give them the opportunity to clean the seat. But, if it doesn't look 100% perfect---insist on a new covering. This situation reminds me of the time when I took my one year old Jeep Grand Cherokee to the dealer for some minor work. They gave it back to me w/ a one inch crease in one door. I thought would explode right there in the service dept. Their body shop took care of it, BUT, it shows how uncaring some dealerships are about their customers cars..Good luck, I hope you make out to your satisfaction....Bob

Lol. I keep my car immaculate. Washed, waxed, clean interior, etc. People usually are amazed when the see how clean it is, and then see the odometer on it. Anyway, I took mine in about a month ago for an oil change at a dealership that I usually don't go to. Same thing, got the car back, and there was a greasy footprint on the floormat, and a rather large stain on the seat. I complained to the service manager, and he said "it's an old, high mileage car, it was probably already there." That's a quote. Yes, it's got a lot of miles for a not quite 3 year old car, but I'd not really consider that to be "old" really. I told him to get off his ***, and not to look at his computer screen showing age and mileage, but to go and look at my car physically, since the grease is still smudgy (not sure that's a word, lol) and quite obviously not an old stain. I ended up getting the seat cleaned, and a free detail. I tried for a new set of floormats, since mine are pretty worn out, but no dice.
