TPMS reset tool for 2008 / 2009 / 2010 Vibe and Matrix

Post by Nihilator »

I recently found a tool that allows us 2008+ Vibe and Matrix owners with direct TPMS to swap wheels and still have a working TPMS. Revolution Supply sells it here, for $150 plus shipping. It needed a little massaging to get the software up and running, but the concept is neat...after an initial setup procedure, it lets you swap between summer and winter wheels by plugging the tool into the OBD-II port and pressing a single button.Yes, I'm aware I could just as easily ignore the warning light or put a piece of electrical tape over it. I prefer to have all systems functioning properly.--Chris

I would prefer all systems to be functioning properly too, but $150 is a little high.

Well, you could easily argue that the true cost is more like $500. It's the cost of the tool plus the four new sensors, at about $88 each. But since I had ordered the wheel and tire package from Tire Rack, there was no opportunity to swap the sensors in my steelies to the new rims. My choice was, either have TPMS sensors in the winter wheels only, or buy a new set of sensors and have them installed the new summer wheels, too. I chose to have them in the summer wheels, too, since those wheels will see the majority of drive time.Having made that $350 choice, I had to have a way to work with the TPMS controller without having to go through the dealership. The Firestone place that usually does my alignments and such had no idea how to program the TPMS controller, believe it or not. So the $150 tool was a bargain at that point...it's going to make the TPMS reset when I swap tires very easy and convenient, and it would save money over what the dealer would charge over the five years (at least) that we'll have the car.--Chris
