Sunroof or no? It could be wiring for the OnStar. I think there's a cover over the wire going to the mirror from the headliner.Best just to check what you can see for looseness - otherwise it may be worth seeing the dealer if it requires any kind of major disassembly to find. From what I've found, some of the plastic parts break quite easily when trying to unclip.
I also had a rattle in the same location on my 09, but only turned out to be my garage door opener that I have clipped to my sunvisor. Hope it's as simple for you too.
are you sure it coming form the mirror and not the dash? I have the pebble being shaken in paper cup sound coming from my dash. People have said this is a common occurrence on 03/08 vibes. My 09's doing it.
http://home.comcast.net/~vibeowner/vibrations.htm Some people have went as far as to remove the dashboard on older vibes to fix this before. I think taking the dash out of our 09's is a little different because we have air bags in the front roof pillars.
I have a very a similar issue on mine - grab the trim bezel around the speedo and give it a pull towards you away from you up or down and it should stop the noise,,, near as I can tell a bracket behind the trim is in contact with it and makes the noise...
OHhh I got a new rattle in my vibe lately. Its the drivers side door panel. It makes a buzzing sound when I turn up the subwoofer. It goes away when I put pressure on the panel though.
