Need some help with MB Quart door speakers

Post by Nervous_Dog »

Has anyone installed the MB Quart DKD116 6.5" in their front doors? I'm not sure they will work with the stock door panel grills. I think the mounting depth is 2.5" that way. Can I take the stock grill off, flush mount them to the door panel, and use the supplied speaker grills?Any help is appreciated.

Yeah, but I also have a Lava GT. I don't want to look like some psycho trying to make my car into an exact replica of someone else's ride.http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=2895

So, thanks for the pics. I'll look into doing it like that. Do your doors buzz or humm? I'm thinking I should Dynamat the plastic door panel so it doesn't rattle. You can buy door kits in 10" x 10" sheets.

when I installed my pioneers in the front, I had to cut the factory plastic grills out and attach theirs. you can see them on the door if you look close.

Are those the long sills? How long are they? Do they bend to conform to the door sill like that? Will the small ones fit in back?BTW, nice speakers.

yes, the sills bend. I'm not sure on the back, but by my calculations and Meatheads, we decided the short will work in the back. I have to order my short sills for the back still.

the long ones are like 27.5in and the short are 21.5in i think. the long ones will be fine in front, and the short ones will work in the back too. according to my measurement, the back sills will just bend and curve up the door frame a bit. i know someone here has the front and back. if not mine should be all on within the week(or they better be). ill post pics if no one hasnt by then.
