Replacing 6 Speaker System (factory), with 4 Speakers

Hi.I just purchased a 2003 vibe and would like to get rid of the crappy factory installed door speakers and tweeters. I was able to remove the back door speakers; however, I am a bit worried about the front doors. I purchased speakers with the tweeters builtin, so I don't need the tweeters that are at the corners of the front doors. What do I do? Do I just leave them unplugged, or do I need to splice some wires together somewhere?Thanks.

I had a similar issue, however I did look up a how too on here that took me through all the steps of replacing your stock speakers. I still use the stock amp & just replaced the stock tweeters in the stock location. This has worked out perfectly for me. My suggestion is to keep using the stock amp, unless you are replacing it and then keep your stock tweeters. They do a great job till one of them blows up. But you will notice a huge differance from having the tweeters up there and having them off. I would try both ways and see how it works out for your preferances. Good luck.Spell check is down...

Hi and welcome to GV..!!Yes, you would want to keep them un-plugged.. You know, the factory speakers don't sound half bad with a new CD player.. I mean it's nothing special, but I don't even have the tweeters and it was a big improvement just doing the HU...

Thanks for the info.I don't care about the tweeters though because the ones that come with the Infinity 6022si speakers should work just fine. They have a 3db button on them that can increase or decrease the high level which is kind of cool.I want to leave the tweeters in place for show only.As for the factory amp, I want to ditch it too. I have a nice four channel amp that is much stronger, but am not going to install it until much later. I'm replacing the factory HU as well (in a few weeks), but just want a way to get my Infinitys working and perhaps a mono sub.HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Can anyone tell me how to ditch the factory amp? Do I remove it and then connect the in and out wires? I also need to put in a mono sub. Does the factory HU have RCA outs? I doubt it, but I have a piece (included with amp), that allows green/black wire to RCA outs. Does anyone know where I should wire this up at (HU or under passenger seat)?Thanks all!
