I have a 2003 vibe and just bought a new valve cover gasket and it came with six rubber grommets and I dont know where they go. I have been getting oil down into my spark plugs and I hope this fixes it
Those are probably seal washers, go under the some of the bolts that hold the cover on. I can't remember if you need all six or not. Where they go will be obvious once you take the cover off. Did you ever solve the smoking problem you mentioned in http://forums.genvibe.com/zero...49787 ?
ha good memory. no its still smoking but I checked compression and its 125 psi all across the board so i pulled my plugs off I seen that they were covered in oil thats what made me think about replacing the valve cover gasket. its only smokes a little bit now when I crank it. I drove it the other day, but its been parked since I posted that
I don't know if yours looks the same as the one I have. Mine came with a plastic bag with six little rubberand metal things. I know two of them go to seal where the two center bolts are, the two that are in line and in between the spark plug holes (one between #1 and #2, the other betwen #3 and #4) . THe spots marked with "2" in this picture. I don't remember why it comes with six of those, I don't feel like taking my cover off to find out, but I remember at least those two. It could be that only two are needed. Are those what you are asking about?
