New Vibe and our teardrop camper Trip Report

Post by Zig »

I towed our Little Guy teardrop camper to N.C. this week (1400mi.) using my new Vibe. My new Vibe is a striped down, no options manual trans. Vibe, so I wondered how it would do. I still havent added up the gas receipts to figure my mileage exactly, but the scangauge indicated it was above 26mpg.When I was going thru the mountains I just shifted to 4th gear whenever they had a extra slow lane for trucks. I was able to keep my speed up even going uphills. The trip was very nice cheap and I got to see my son & his girlfriend. Ill post pics of the new Vibe and Little Guy teardrop later. Im still unloading.
I need a picture of my new Vibe! Better to ZIG then ZAG!!! http://www.golittleguy.com/teardrops/ Our Website/Bloghttp://campinggills.com/

If you know, how the 1.8L/4 speed auto is working in towing "mode" ?

Well I say it works fine. We drove my wife's Vibe 1.8 auto awd towing the teardrop to Alaska and back this summer. When we were climbing mountains with it we just pushed the overdrive button off and and we go,... it would just climb. Im not sure it even needed it, but we did install a tran. cooler. If you keep it under 1000lbs 2/3 the weight towing limit you should be fine.

I would like to go to Alaska too, it sound a little crazy (from Detroit area). But until that I am planing to go to Montana/Wyoming. What would be the best/smallest trail so I can pack my staff ? When you say overdrive that mean 3 ?
