Adding speakers...

Post by BadBrew »

I'm not an audio expert at all but I really like good "wrapping" sound when I'm driving.I'm currently parting out my old 98 Grand Prix which had a good sound package and I was wondering if it would be worthy to take the 6x9 speakers and install them on some boards likewhelan's project I already have the Monsoon package with sub in my car....Thanks!

You could if you liked, but you would want to disconnect the stock rear speakers and attach it to that output... if you put both sets on either the front or the rear, it would be too much for the stock amp to handle... Something would give... You would be better off replacing your front speakers... I recommended to another member the Phoenix Gold RSD 6.5" component set... and for the ~100 they cost, they are well worth the money in sound benefit.. If you are concerned about money, don't let me stop you from trying your idea, i'm just offering my opinion..

lol money is not a concern... well it does actually, as always... I'm just throwing some mod ideas in the wild to see if it's viable and worth doing it I'll see what I can salvage out of my wrecked Grand Prix before I donate it. There's a few "might be useful" electronics in there...I'll keep in mind your recommendation though... It might be one of my mods next year

IMHO you will be much happier upgrading the speakers in the front. You could just pick up one of Sublimewinds ams from the FS section and do a set of the PG components he mentioned. Mount the mid in the door do some playing with tweeter placement; that car would be singing!Aron
Vibe is gone and will be missed as I've gone country style
