Vinegar Smell

Post by 09vGT »

My car is just a year old and I am starting to get a horrid, strong, vinegar smell coming from my air vents. I live in the mid-south, so very hot and humid. I've read wear maybe its mold. I just changed my cabin air filter last month. Anyone have any ideas on how to fix it? The smell isn't constant. Just last about 10-15 seconds when started.

there was a bulletin on mold in the evaporator coils, there is a kit that tells you to spray the evaporator with something that cleans the mold off. Can be avoided if you run the fan a few minutes after shutting off the AC to dry the evaporator so nothing grows on it.

I got a whiff of such a smell the other day too. Strange enough I only smell it if I've been using the AC but not if I *keep* using the AC. Stale and sour.

Just noticed that today. Turned off the A/C because I turned on the heat, and the smell about knocked me out. So I guess I'll forever keep on the A/C.
