Some of my favorite cars are Pontiacs from the mid-60's. It is still hard to believe they've fallen - especially as they seemed on their way to greatness with the Solstice, Vibe and the G's. The G8 was the culmination and I think they really had arrived back on top. Coming up would have been much more improved products - reliability and engineering to match their style.RIP Pontiac. So much promise unfulfilled.

Although I've owned five Pontiacs, including a '67 Firebird 400 convertible and a '97 Grand Prix GTP, my favorite looking Pontiac of all time is the 1959 Bonneville. Pontiac frequently had the hottest and best looking GM cars, but sales apparently weren't up to where GM wanted them to be.We built some Pontiacs in the Buick City factory (now torn down), right along with Buicks. Pontiac quality was the same as the Buicks, which even back then had high quality. It's sad to see Pontiac go.
My all-time favorite Pontiac is the '66 Catalina in that GM light blue color. Coke-bottle waist, stacked headlights, fast roof, blade fenders! Love it.

I'm as stupid as the next guy...... The closing was sept, 29th 2009. and it was the closing of GM's truck assembly plant in Pontiac, Michigan. I went up there to check on some inventory that we use in Ft. Wayne. Lots of people wandering around talking about good times and bad. quite a few are transfering to Flint and Delta Township and a few to Ft. Wayne. I think the last truck came off the line at 5 p.m.
