Clogged moonroof drain?

Hi,2003 Vibe. Noticed the carpet was getting REALLY wet in the rear passenger side foot well. First thought it was a spill, but I have determined the water is coming in through the moonroof. It seems the water does not drain from the rear right of the moonroof gutters. If I'm parked facing uphill in the rain, the whole gutter fills with water. Eventually the water ends up in the passenger footwell somehow.So my question is, how do I get in to check to see if the drain is clogged or kinked? I can't see much by just sighting down from the roof opening.Thanks

Hi and welcome to GV...!!! The wet in the passenger foot well usually points towards the A/C condensate drain line, but could be the moon roof.. Check the drain line in the footwell first.. Look under the dash, you should see a tube running from the heater core, out toward the firewall, and out to the engine compartment... these often get kicked and end up draining into the footwell.. I had it happen on my 03'... If it's the MR drain line, you might be able to blow it out with compressed air..

In short, you have to drop the one-piece headliner to actually get to the drain tubes in the rear. They're translucent blue plastic tubes, and could be clogged, or just kinked. Here's one thread on this topic with a couple of pics I posted --> http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=25645 The drain lines are blue plastic, and one runs down the rear passenger-side window.I had the driver's side front drain tube blocked by a maple seed this spring. That one was right up front where I could reach it, though.

Thanks for the responses guys. I already checked the AC drain, that's fine. I can reproduce the problem by pouring water on the sunroof. The combo of having a constant drip leak in the seal, and the drain not working somehow.Thanks for the link about the kinked hose. I will try getting in there. Any links on how to "drop the one piece headliner"?

If you had an air gun with a pointed tip, you might be able to get some vinyl hose and thread it part way down the drain and BLOW... I'd do just about anything before I dropped the HL.. lol..

Yeah, no joke. I just took a look at the link bull77 posted, there's a whole page of things you have to remove to get the headliner down. Does anyone know where the exit to the drain is? Can you blow air up to clear it without taking anything off?

Apparently it ends behind the passenger side rear wheel well. Look toward the end of this thread again --> http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=25645 at the photos posted by epcIII on 9/19/2009.I think you can access the bottom of the rear drain tube by removing the gray plastic 'floor' panel in the back, and then removing the black plastic 'tray' that holds the spare tire.

Fixed it tonight. It was a kinked drain hose, exactly the same as EpicIII 's car in the other thread. Did the wood/duct tape fix. Thanks again, the info helped a lot.
