Yesterday at work a fellow employee forgot to put the parking brake on in the company utility vehicle and it rolled down the parking lot to produce thisThe first estimate I got was for $1300. I'm kinda shocked that it is that much. Since it happened on company property with a company vehicle, the company insurance is taking care of it. I'm trying to convince them that the whole car needs to be painted now.

That's a bummer! See if you can get cash from the insurance company so you can do it yourself, then get the parts from a salvage yard or ebay and get the panel painted locally....then keep the balance for the cash and put it in savings for an emergency fund.

Bumper removed / tail light replaced / weather stripping on hatch / lower passenger side hatch refinished / rear quarter replaced and or bumped + filled / paint blended on bumper to hatch to rear quarter panel$1300 seems about right...

I bet it damaged your exhaust, too. You probably need a to replace it with a performance cat back system.

And the last three replies are why our insurance premiums are so high... (I know, y'allz jokin though)1300 seems about right, it's highly doubtful they would replace the quarter, I suppose they could, but it might be as much if not more work than bumping and filling/fixing it..

The only thing that will actually save me money is if I supply my own taillight. To paint it correctly and make it look normal, almost the entire quarter panel will have to be painted and clear coated. It does suck, but since I work for a State University the insurance is great and it will be done right.

So instead of being older and a better driver for a longer period I now get to pay a higher rate. Sorry, ranting cause it aggravated me a bit when I saw my renewal.
I'm excited that I'll soon be 25 and the insurance company will send me this huge box of good driving habits that I have been paying through the nose for.

raffe, will they be giving you back your broken taillamp? If so, i'd be interested in it. I'm not looking for a new one, just a used broken one and yours is right on the money for what I'm looking for. If they give it back, how much would you be willing to part with it for?

Problem is I've been with Progressive for over 7 years so nobody is going to come close to their rates with my customer discount. Now I'm some diamond member with all these extra benefits from them. It's not a crazy increase and its very affordable.
