purchasing vibe 2.0

Post by akt32990 »

So i maybe purchasing the vibe 2.0 im debating between that and the dodge caliber sxt. my question is how well does the car age. this includes everything, does the engine run well with high miles. does interior maintain well, does outside paint keep color, and and have you guys and girls had many problems with your vibe. I need a car that can withstand long drives and high miles and will last 5 years. is this a car that will do that?ps. please also post current miles you have and if you've encountered any issues.

For me, and other people I know who've owned the Vibe, it's one of the cheapest cars out there to maintain over the long run.I've got an '03 with 156,000kms (96933 mi). So far, the only things replaced on the car were: clutch (120,000kms), blown driver side front strut (130,000kms), and a door handle a couple of months ago (one of the few things on the car I'd say is not well made). Other than that, do some searching around here and you'll find lots of people with over 200,000 miles, and a few who passed the 300,000 mark with minimal work required to keep it going. Cheers

Hey 1st off i'll start by saying that I love my vibe. Its an 06 base. I bought it 2 years ago used with 30 thousand miles. It now has 63xxx and is running great. Only issue I have had is the dreaded PCM issue at 45,000...lol DA DA DAAAAABut it along with the Cat are covered till 80K miles, so no worries there.and other than that I've done tires twice(I'm a very spirited driver), brakes all the around(not needed really, but I work at a parts house, so I just did them anyways). And Plugs....Went with the NGK Iridium over the OE denzo Iridium when I first got it. So in 2 years and 33K miles im into it about 550 or so bucks. So i say thats not to bad Plus oil changes of course. You wont be sorry buying one....trust me.

I test drove a Caliber before I bought the Vibe. I was less then impressed with the engine and tranny in the sxt for what they wanted for it... $24K is too much! That and the reliability of Dodge is down there with Volkswagen...I know I made the correct decision!
