2010 Vibe - Side/Fenders moldings !

Post by iucu »

Where to find/install - Body/Fenders side moldings and how much would cost ? I saw some Vibes with moldings all around (black or gray) and they look very good.

You can get body-side moldings from this site, painted your car color and ready to be installed. Several Vibe owners on this board have done it. They look great, too.http://www.sportwing.com/home.html

Those are probably the same moldings made by the same company, but at a better price from another seller. Good catch!

Are this molding easy to install ? Did someone install them ? How a black/gray molding would look on red hot metalic ?

The dealer installed mine. After watching him do it, I realize anybody over the age of ten could probably do it.As for how that gray color would look on red, your guess is as good as mine. I think the same color as the car looks best.

The ebay stores can be risky but on the other hand a lot of sellers go out of their way to be really conscientious. Like Winter Tire Guy says, where you have to watch out is on items that may need future service. The guy who sells the moldings is very personable and helpful, and will answer questions. He is in Ohio. I'll plug him.The kit comes with good instructions on measurement that are straightforward and need to be followed carefully. Measurements for the end locations are in inches above locations on the wheel wells. The new body style has a slight flare on the rear panel line so the moldings need to be lined up carefully so they don't cross the contour. The units are backed with 3M tape which is incredibly sticky on first grab so careful. If you get it on the wrong place, it isn't coming up sweetly. You have to start from one end and move forward pressing as one goes along, keeping in line; you don't want to try setting it all at once. I used masking tape to mark the lower edge. It would be helpful to have 2nd pair of hands of someone who doesn't shake drink or can't parallel park. I like these kits and wish Pontiac had installed them standard. When I sold my 2003 I touched it up and most of the paint chips were on the molding (and easy to clean up). Moldings pick up a lot of parking lot bangsI should probably get a photo of my 2009 up, but I keep waiting till I get my new wheels on, which probably won't be till March. Its coming along though. Didn't think I'd be as attached to the 2009 as much as the old 2003 Alpha, but geez it really drives and handles nice. Here in hill country, the 2.4 liter is a blessing!Good luck!

by the way -- if you like the protection of the moldings, you may also like Toyota Matrix rear bumper protector -- the Bushwacker one not the 2009 OEM one. http://www.cabelas.com/p-0067134523621a.shtmlthere was an ebay dealer in florida called Delands that was selling it for about $40. It is not a > fit for the vibe but so close that you yourself won't notice in a couple of months. Easier install than the molding, and very durable. Highly recommended
